OK guys, we do not get much input here in TX,
so I had to look up Gilmore...
I noticed this..

11. Hayden Rettig QB 05/22/12 Rivals Scout 247
16. Anthony Jennings QB 06/07/12 Rivals Scout 247

I do not understand... a PRO STYLE QB and a Dual threat QB ????? is that not what we had with JJ and JL ??
what style do we really want to play?
can some one give the logic..honestly ?
...other than good athletes

...as I said, we get almost no info here in Dallas

---I could understand 2 Qbs of either type.

Jennings isn't your average dual threat...he can throw.

Let's just stop recruiting QBs since they're inevitably just going to be JJ or JL.

Jennings is a very competent passer; his dual-threat label is a testament to his ability to run, but it isn't his priority. He was praised at the Elite 11 camp for his accuracy. It's not a Russell Shepard situation.

Thanks, that makes more sense.

Calling Jennings a dual-threat QB is doing him a great disservice - if for no other reason than it gives the casual fan the same perception it gave you: "a tailback who just happens to be playing the QB position for his school".

But to cement a better concept in your mind, Jennings is much more like Steve Young or Roger Staubach than he is like Terrell Pryor or Pat White. He's a pure pocket passer, with impeccable mechanics, who just happens to be a dynamite runner.

Reportedly, he is also bright, a student of the game, and a great leader.

I accidentally got to see the All-Star game practice and game on an ESPN channel. Jennings is the real deal like RB3 or the guy at Oregon, we are lucky to get him. I never thought California's Rettig would stick. Jennings is great. He can run and throw, If Rettig backed out like the Notre Dame kid did, we would would have a runner and passer with Jennings. We have to take a talent like that whether we are run first or pass happy in offense.

The California QB is all in. He just tweeted his pic from the LSU locker room after bama game with his 11 LSU jersey on.

His big brother is starting QB for Boston College so that tells you they aren't afraid to leave California.

This is what Les has done since he's been here. He likes multiplicity on offense. Likes having a guy he can put in there to run different sets. The only time he didn't use 2 qbs in his football life was when he had the #1 pick in the draft at LSU.

Jennings is really good.

Like I said in the commitment thread. Think of this as JaMarcus and Flynn all over again.

And Jenning is a dual threat like RGIII is a dual threat. He's mobile and will run of he has too. Similar to Flynn.

No, JJ came out of highschool as a Pro Style QB. He was converted to the option once he got to LSU thanks to Crowton not having a clue what he wanted to run.
