i'v been. felt it was solid but a little over the top.

drinks are ok, but way over priced.

food was pretty solid, but it's not anything i'd want to make a meal out of. If you want to go for drinks with the girls and pick at some small plates, it's good. if you are expecting an actual dinner, go elsewhere.

Oh ok. well i wanted to do my birthday dinner there next weekend, so its just small plates and drinks? where would be a good suggestion?
I really like cochon and think that is a perfect place but I've already been there. rock and sake type of atmosphere with good food is what i'm looking for. I liked that soubou was new and trendy.

it's not the big lively atmosphere, but take a look at Apolline. Went there a few weeks ago and it was outstanding. One of the best meals i've had. it was pretty lively when i was there, but not rocking out music per se

it was

most of the places that have the atmosphere you are looking for are centered on small plates. I didn't find Sobou to be all that lively. In fact it was kinda dead at 830 on a friday when i was there.

Domenica might be good. Capedeville might be a good one to look at also.

Don't listen to him. SoBou would be great for your purposes.

The drinks are good, good atmosphere for what you're doing, and I have found all of the entrees and small plates I've had to be good.

I went with some girlfriends not long ago. Sat in the bar area and had drinks and small plates. We enjoyed it. I think the same lady that is in charge of the bar at Loew's is also in charge at Sobou...meaning damn good drinks.

Annunciation fits the bill if you want good food and somewhere trendy

Yes. I would say it has the atmosphere you're looking for and the few things I've tried have been very good.

I like Borgne a lot...but my gf doesn't and 3 other girls we were with were pretty lukewarm.

easy man...i just said i didn't care for it. I felt it was over priced. You were just paying for atmosphere and to "be seen" though when i was there, no one was being seen at all there since it was empty.

This is how I felt. The menu is very disjointed.

I know they're trying to emphasize "small plates", but that is such a tricky thing to do, and I found ordering there with a group of four and leaving feeling like I had a satisfying dinner difficult.

hahahhaha.. nah I'll pass this time LE. thanks though.

I'm thinking of sticking to Sobou b/c it would be fun to just have small plates and drinks before going out. I don't want to feel like I need to be rolled out of the restaurant..
I am really contemplating the switch to Annunciation... I'm terrible at deciding!
thanks everybody!
