Headed to the wax Sunday morning, I can't wait... In so antsy thinking about it. I sure I'm getting some crazy looks at red lights blasting away my hail call.

One of my good friends and I are trying to plan a mid season hunt at the wax. Gonna take a few days off and camp and hunt from our yaks.

Neither of us are familiar with the WAX. Any tips would be appreciated.

Always wanted to hunt there, but never did. Anybody ever need a gun, let me know. Can hunt any time if I feeling good.

personally I wouldn't yak out in any of the main passes, it can be dangerous down there, (would be fine in marsh) the campground is give or take 10 miles downriver from the launch

Hunted the wax for the first time last year. It's definitely a whole different world down there. Lots of ducks and even legitimate oppurtunities to shoot geese.

I used to kill alot of geese directly across channel from houseboats in the 80s. Greenheads and bellies. But hell, back then it was 3 birds so it was over quickly.

How far is the marsh from the campgrounds? We may bring a big boat if it's too far for yaks.

You're going to need a big boat regardless to get down to the campground with your yaks loaded in that, there is no way you can yak down there, the current in that river is pretty damn strong (if you fall in the river with waders on you're most likely going to die)...there is marsh to the south and west of the campgrounds (right behind it), i would think it could be done in a yak but it would be a pretty good paddle to the really good areas, would use the big boat to get to the pass, anchor then paddle in
