bapple, I know the Glock has flaws, but it is a damn reliable platform.
I am looking at 3 guns with the likelihood of purchasing two. A Springfield XDm in 45 or the XDs in single stack 45.
Check out this link and see what you think of this .45 Girsan. I will take it to a custom shop to have it tuned and maybe bobtailed.

EDIT: I have not accidentally discharged a firearm ever. I have owned a Glock in one capacity or another since 1988. My 17 had a 3 number serial number. The OP has never owned a semi- and it seems reasonable that he should get a holster with some safeguards against AD.

I had the Sig P250 .45 and now I have a Glock 30 .45. On the Sig I had the Guide rail laser, kinda hard to find a holster and keep it accurate, on the Glock I have the Lasermax Guide rod and don't have the first complaint at all.

Agreed. I'm saying if the OP is buying the gun simply on the premise of it's "reliability", there are plenty other new entries in the market that are just as reliable, but with much better ergonomics.
If he likes it, fine and dandy. I'm just saying a new shooter getting something new without holding it is taking a risk of not liking said firearm.

I am actually not going Glock on my next pistola.
I want a grip safety or a slide safety. I am undecided on hammer/striker. I don't know if I can get comfortable with the "cocked and locked" 1911 thing. But man they make some pretty 1911s just from a craftsmanship standpoint.

My primary is an HK but I love my Glock too. I like how low-profile it is compared to most other similar pistols. IMO it has a great natural point of aim and comes back to center with ease.

The M&P has a frame-mounted safety on some of their select models.
The Ruger SR9 is also a great model with a frame-mounted safety. It also has a magazine disconnect safety, but I removed that the day I bought it.
Are you planning to carry it? If you have a good holster that covers the trigger guard, there really isn't a need for an external safety. The best safety is the one between your ears.

I do plan on carry. Inside Waist Holster.

Refer to my response in your other thread.
As for the other 45s listed, they are all great. But the Sig P220 is going to be considerably more heavy than the other 2 since it has a metal frame. That's something to consider.

I have been looking at the wt in ozs of each of them. I think the:
1911s are coming in at 39-41 oz.
Sig 220 at 30.5 oz
Springfield XDm 29 oz
Glock 30 at 24 oz.
Springfield XDs 21.5 oz
The XDs feels the best of all to conceal carry.
