CBS has the teams anonymous and shows their resume, and asks the reader to vote on the top 2.

No cheating.

It's not that tough to figure out which teams are which.

I picked A and D w/o looking.

ETA: okay, I thought it would be K-State and Oregon. Wow, Bama isn't as impressive as one casually thinks on paper.

So did I. But I also figured out who they were before I picked them.

I went D and E without looking, with A third.

It really isn't that hard to figure out which team is which

That chart isn't even correct. Oregon's been winning by 33 PPG not 25. Also, why not use all of the computer rankings instead of just Sagarin for the top 20 wins?

Based on the very limited criteria they provided, I ranked them C, E, D, A, B

I'm not going to post who each of those were, but I will say that I was pleasantly surprised at who I would have ranked 1 and 2...

Because they want a certain team to stand out

Except that C has no business being number 1.

Based purely on the VERY LIMITED DATA they provided, they would.

When you expand the data from which you pull your analysis, I might agree with you.

And in this situation, when I say "data" I'm including the "eyeball test".

I'd rather base the Top 20 wins on the humans.

The humans are going to decide anyways...as they always do...the BCS made sure of that by tweaking the system after 2003.

That's why they also need to pass the eyeball test. Notre Dame is not in the discussion.

No doubt. I don't disagree with you. I believe if Oregon were playing ND or K-State's schedule, they would still be crushing everybody. They're a great team being hurt by a lot of things outside of their control. I also wouldn't mind if the BCS computers brought back the margin of victory into their formula. Barely beating teams like BYU, Purdue, and Pitt should be hurting Notre Dame but it just counts as another win. Winning by 33 PPG even if it isn't against great competition should count for something.

The polls have margin of victory factored in already.

You don't need to add another layer with the algorithms.

But I'm also not opposed to going back to the polls only, using the algorithms as supporting or reference material.
