Willow,

Unfortunately most Arky fans are. As for Gundy, he only leaves for a top 10 national job. Probably more like a top 5. He would be dangerous at Texas. Gundy is a heck of a coach, talent evaluator and recruitor. He finds gems and makes them work. At a place like Texas, he can get enough talent to have a good defense.

Burnnnnnnnn

Ok so to recap

1. OSU is on the brink of financial collapse

2. Arkansas is an elite job/flagship

3. Mike Gundy would love to become the biggest celebrity in the state of Arkansas

I guess we should start looking at hiring Stoops away from OU then or Saban from Bama to replace Gundy.

Well OSU did raise over $100 million last year as donors went into emergency mode because the endowment fund had dipped under $200MM, which is laugable for a major university. U. of Arkansas has almost $790MM in their endowment and will be at a Billion within the next few years.

OSU's own policies will hamstring them more than anything while U. of A's are like a welcoming hug.

You're good at Hyperbole, you'll make a fine OSU fan as you settle into being little brother nicely. Remember Mike is the Big Bro. and Cale is the little Bro.

I really doubt it was that close. I'm sure he listened to us as any smart person would but I doubt it went too far past that. And there is no way it gets too far past that with Arkansas either.

Gundy isn't going anywhere. The idea that he would leave his alma mater to go to a 2nd-tier school in the SEC just to be a coach in the vaunted SEC is the epitome of hubris. He has repeatedly called OSU his "Yankees" job.

As to the supposed financial disaster at OSU, the university is in the midst of raising over $1 billion for the endowment. The university is far from financial ruin.

Little brother won a conference title last year and a BCS bowl, when was the last time arky did either?

Again why would Gundy leave his alma mater for a lateral move to arky? We aren't talking about a top 5 or 10 job. If he leaves his self stated dream job it aint gonna be for a job like Arkansas.

The thread on the arky page is pure gold, "I think it's already a done deal"

This is much like me saying I'm in the midst of raising $10MM in initial round financing. They might be asking, but they ain't gettin'.

The big thing they're pushing is for the school to be deeded property and mineral rights in alumni wills. They've got $700MM to go to reach that Billion, I expect them to frick it up well before they ever reach $550MM in the endowment.

OSU = Stepping Stone
Arkansas = Destination

No football coach has left Arkansas on their own free will for another job since the early 1950's.

Snicker...one did leave for other reasons... And that is why every arky fan wants a big named coach there for next season...

Mike G isn't going anywhere for a while they will have to force him out... He is a family friend and loves being near his family and loves OSU... As far as the little brother syndrome most OU fans try to bring up all the time... They have to feel big about something when The Pokes beat them lol

I think Gundy would leave a lot easier than people think.

It's a business and money talks.

Arkansas has a lot more money than Oklahoma State, both in the football program, and endowment, and with boosters.

I just don't think Mike has much of a chance with Gruden, Saban and Urban all lined up for the job.

FTR, I don't think Gundy leaves OSU for Arkansas. I think he might listen to a phone call but that's pretty much it.

However, Arkansas does have nicer facilities and more available funds than OSU. If you believe otherwise than you don't know all the available information.

Money and facilities aren't Arkansas' problem. Desolate in-state recruiting, being in the same division as a few of the nation's top programs, and an absolutely bat shite fanbase will be the biggest detractors for possible coaching candidates.

Oh yea, this is why I say we need to hire a coach that a tad crazy. The negs on Arky could be attractive to someone out there with something to prove and a chip on his shoulder.

The IPF that OSU has struggled to build cost roughly $10MM less than the new football command center that Arkansas paid cash for in a year from private donations. Then there was the practice fields and parking structure that was built in under a year, a scoreboard refurb. The support system is important

You guys are crazy on the Arky board. But the honest truth, Arky will get the leftover coach behind UT and AU. You guys need to realize what you're working with, and it's not a top 5-10 coaching job.
