Scarbrough is what we refer to sometimes as a "spike." He is not present because he has legitimate interest in being part of your team. He is there to feign interest and hopefully have a chance to talk up another team and/or see a good game. However, you allow him to come because sometimes you have to keep an open door so you don't look like a dick to possible other potential recruits.

But you want to isolate him. So we would take him outside and show him the irrigation system for a few hours or just put him somewhere to play video games for the better part of the day.

Sounds like the staff played it similarly.

To everyone who thinks that Saban is a coaching genius...give him Boise/TCU talent and see what he could do.

Part of being a coaching genius is getting the talent. I could say, "Bill Walsh was supposed to be such a coaching genius, but I'd like to see how he would have done without that West Coast offense he invented."

So well said. Unfortunately, most won't see it this way because they don't understand the strategy behind recruiting.

Penrod, part of being a good coach is definitely recruiting. A large part of recruiting is the school sports history, school facilities, athletic budget, proximity to talent. these items have nothing to do with who the coach is. so, put saban at boise state or iowa state without the items mentioned above and he would not be NEARLY as successful. less than 10% of universities in country have equal resoures (human and financial)to bama. having said all that, he has done about as well as you could do with those resources but without them he would be just another good coach.

The LSU coaching staff was not talking to anyone Saturday night before or after the game...other recruits said the same as Bo...

Sorry Bo felt rejected but he did not get treated any different than any other recruit that attended the Bama Game Saturday.

he didnt wait too long...if so he would have seen the 20 or so john curtis recruits and other recruits waiting just like him...

quote:

2014 John Curtis linebacker Kenny Young: “This game was 10 times better than the other games, even the South Carolina game. It was very, very loud. The crowd was going crazy. When Alabama scored at the end of the game though, the whole place went quiet. It was crazy. I didn’t get to speak to the coaches much, but it was a great visit.”
