The Refs Called A Decent Game; I Have No Complaints There

Considering how terrible the previous LSU/Bama games have been called, I think the refs did a decent job.

They got the onside kick call right, correct offensive pass interference call on Bama, correct blatant def pass interference on that last drive, correct first illegal formation call (the second one idfk??).

I know people are crying about holding calls but I saw a couple on us too. I guess they figured to let everyone slug it out and only call the blatant holds.

If you're gonna complain about no calls, the two that pissed me off were:

1. the jersey grab on the first screen pass before the half (basically erased a Sam sack)
2. when keke batted the ball down and got shoved down afterward. shouldve been 15 yards right there esp if you're going to call it on JC.

Considering the intensity of the game, I give the refs an A- for the game. You can't get every call, but at least your mistakes don't change the course of the game.

Everyone here says Bama was holding on almost every play. I taped the game and am going to rewatch for that myself...

Typically I'm very critical of officiating (maybe because I've called 9 years at the HS level). I'm in total agreement with you on the A- rating. There was a couple of ticky-tack calls made (block in the back on the punt, that was basically a hand-check), but for the most part it was a well officiated game, so I can't complain.

Since this was a handpicked crew and not used to working as a crew throughout the year that says loads.

But just in case no one else saw him...Tom Ritter (aka Bug Eyes) was on the sidelines in a "non-white hat". Just glad Owens didn't go down.

Do us a favor... l can't remember the exact series but Minter was basically horse-collared within the play itself. It wasn't some obscure infraction 100 ft from the action.

Find it, take a screen shot and post it up.

K, thx, bi.

Bama was flagged for one penalty all game. These are two that definitley should have been called.

Overall it was a pretty good officiated game, I was very glad they didn't flag any cheap late hit out of bounds. I always hated it when a guy was in the middle of tackling someone, he goes out of bounds, and they flag the defender for completing the tackle.

I remember the play, it was right there in the open, easily should have been seen/called.

We declined one holding call, but I see your point.

It was the Lacy run to the left on the scoring series right before the half. That call would have changed the game.

That "A" will go right alongside the "A" they were all wearing under their Zebra skins...

Yep, that's it.

Thanks, Huck.

Needless to say, I was dropping F-bombs and generally just freaking out.

Along with F-baum.

I shudder at the thought of the man-on-man post game activities during the ride home.

Those two bring the terms "pitch and catch" to a whole new level.

Actually, Bama was flagged twice. Once for holding which LSU declined.

I thought the calls the refs made were all okay, but I'd like to see a better replay of the block in the back against LSU on the punt return. I can't say I was happy about some pretty obvious penalties that weren't called.

Blatant block in the back on the McCarron td run. May have been held to a field goal and then the last td would have tied the game instead of winning it.

There is absolutely nothing to complain about the refs. They called a good game.
