Love me some Chavis, yet he is human

On this night, I have to question 2 major mistakes in his schemeing/plan(s).
1) On the McCarron running TD at the end of the first half, the pass coverage scheme (with no LB in the middle) left the run totally open. Downs had no chance to cover the run up the middle.
2) The dreaded prevent defense for the last drive.
Granted, McCarron - the LSU killer and very strong college QB - made great executions in both situations, but those 2 situations were the difference between LSU winning and losing.
I love me some Chief, and no one is perfect, but all the comments about the Les Miles decision making are in my opinion off-the-mark THIS TIME.
Chief is a human and makes mistakes also. We are used to the offense letting the defense down, but last night, it was the other way around.
Still, Chief is our best coach and our best asset.

I wouldn't trade Chavis for anyone else in the country. That being said, hopefully he completely learns from this game that you can still trust your base defense to win in late game situations. Especially when they had done nothing the entire second half. Don't fix it if it ain't broken

when the opposition simply needs a FG you shouldn't be in prevent, bottom line.
Bama couldn't move the ball that entire half, why give them anything?

The man is the backbone of our program, no doubt.
But if there is one thing we need to shore up, it's our 2-minute D.

Chavis, got into a predictable end game pattern and it bit him in the arse.
