1. Obviously Saints try to win most of their remaining games. Don't drop more than 2 of the remaining games.
2. Root for Giants, Bears, Packers, Falcons and 49ers to win the rest of their games --> 4 Division winners and 1 wildcard will come from this group (Bears/Packers toss-up)
3. Root against Vikings and Seahawks --> Closest competition for 6th spot

Improve the defense from 31st in the NFL! Just for starters...

I don't think we have to worry about the Vikings. They have to play the Bears and Packers twice still, and the Texans.

If Seattle wins today they might finish 10-6 at best, I don't really see too many more losses on their schedule.

I got the Saints, Eagles, Seahawks, and Vikings all at 8-8, tied for the 6th spot in the playoffs. It'll come down to tie-breakers to see who gets it (Likely Saints, due to two of their losses coming to AFC teams)

I couldn't root for the Falcons if the good Lord himself told me to.

How about if the Saints win out (11-5) and the Falcons lose out (7-9)?

You've given them too much credit.

The Saints are currently in 15th place in the NFC. They will not finish in the top 6. With a defense that's last or next to last in several defensive categories, it's not going to happen this year.
