What happens when STM meets a team with a defense such as Karr, Neville, Salmen?

What happens if Brandon has a bad game like he did at Sulphur?
quote:
What happens if Dozier starts coughing up the ball like he did at Central.
Then perhaps they will lose. If STM loses does that automatically mean they choked? WTF kind of logic is that?

Im just pointing out that times have changed and that there are better teams than them that they play in the playoffs
times have not changed, every year there are teams that are better than STM in the playoffs.

STM jumped on Acadiana in week five and blew them out early taking away the veer
in the semi finals, acadiana was angry after the forfeits, motivated since STM beat them earlier in the season, they were completely healthy, they had moved Eugene back to defense and they were far more seasoned in their veer after 9 more weeks of work and they had a career highlight night from a soph TB that I am pretty sure never played for them ever again
to say STM was way better than Acadiana because of a game in week 5 and that STM choked getting beat 31-0 is dumb

Didnt WM have a INT or a fumble for a TD in the first seconds of the game? I am foggy on that game but I remember it was 28-13 and then WM returned a KO 97 yrds for a TD and then just annihilated STM scoring 28 unanswered points. You consider getting man handled by a better team loaded with BCS caliber athletes choking?

My point throughout this whole things is STM will not make it past Karr. I expect a win against WE, a close/good game against St. Aug, but do not see this Cougar team getting past Karr.

perhaps you should watch the highlights again and tell me which teams stands out on film:
I have the DVD of the game from COX trust me I've watched it multiple times.... STM shoulda won.
And STM can break all the records they want this year, thats great. But where is the leadership on this team. There are none. There is no Matt Flores or Ezra Angelle or Paul Babineaux. The STM offense is stoppable. Coach Sav will call some dumb play eventually and Brandon will make a mistake. It is my opinion that STM is missing the leadership this year on both sides of the ball.

Eugene was actually playing defense full time the whole season. He only played RB his senior year but he only played on offense during the first half of all but 3 games that year, both times against STM and against West Monroe. They were up big on everyone else they played. The other running back was Abraham who was a junior. He didn't play his senior year because of off the field issues.

If it makes you feel better, I believe that STM might have beaten WM had they not lost in the semifinals

Why do I feel like you gave yourself props in this thread?
Posted on 11/7/12 at 6:58 pm to FaSheaux
Eugene on defense was huge in the semifinal
Flores had a few chances to get loose and Eugene just shut it down
Thats right - Abraham was the kid that exploded on STM and then didn't play the next year
It doesn't really matter to me, I just find it silly to think that some feel like whenever STM loses in the playoffs it is because they choked

Does anyone know what kind of team Zachary has? Are they still shotgun spread?

You'll be in WM next Friday.

quote:Yes running the same offense. Don't expect much acadiana rolls by 3+ tds. Zacharys soft acadiana will mash them with veer. Zachary has athletes all over the field just soft. They do have one of the better players in the state in Donald gage who is committed to Houston. Defense is worse then last year when acadiana hung 75 on them so they should score at will.

Depends on what mood Shows is in honestly. Pretty much just veer with some counters and toss sweeps behind Cam. Not many passes. Against the FL team with 11 in the box WM ran it up the middle 24 times. It was like 1/9...seriously. Now that its the playoffs, expect 2 TEs and a conservative gameplan. Pound the ball, shorten the game, win field location battle with defense and stellar punter, move on to the next round. Can't argue with the results of this formula.

I don't know man, both losses came to teams who run shotgun spread type offenses. Acadiana has to average atleast 4 turnovers a game. They were down 20-0 against comeaux because they just seem to have a tendency to turn the ball over. A lot.... Don't get me wrong, there is a lot of talent on Acadiana's team. But they are young and prone to mistakes. Wouldn't surprise me if they lose.

It is the same for ACADIANA it always is, take care of the football and they are tough to beat. Fumble the ball and they are very beatable
I think they are playing for experience for next year but I don't see them losing to Zachary
At WM is a different animal but it can be done

We were talking about ACADIANA the other day
One thing that works for them in the playoff is they are great at using the rolling start if the neutral reff crew lets them get away with it
The Lafayette association is used to them and will crack down on their rolling start but a neutral crew will sometimes let them get away with it more. If the neutral crew is lax they will push the issue and that really makes the veer tough to stop
They are incredibly well coached

Rolling start my arse those frickers flat out cheat. In the Dome vs WM they didn't get set one single play and the refs didn't flag them once.
