This thread is ridiculous. Last night was the first time in too long Miles didnt play it too close to the vest. He had lesticals again. It didn't work out but it damn near did. How can you control a football taking a backwards bounce on the onside kick? It was a great game. It hurt, bad. But I prefer that type of play. To take some chances to win I can forgive.

3) The 4th and 1 try with Spencer Ware. Obvious play call. And again, that's another 3 pts. off the board. If Les had played those scenarios more conservatively, we win. In fact, Bama would not even have had a chance to win the game in the end.

When Mett went out I thought there was no way we were running that sneak with Ware. After Bama lined up, judging from the other risky calls, I thought for sure ware would either pitch it out or fake the run and pitch. I'll have to watch it again later, but did they have anyone back off of the line?

If I'm remembering right (which I may not have been ) that was a solid opportunity for a toss outside.

we ended the game playing that way and lost all the advantages the prior aggressive play delivered

but there is no mistake that miles made a bunch of bone-headed calls in critical situations

Posters will come on here and criticize you because of your previous, extensive posting history and penchant to be "negative" but the quote above is 100% sound and correct.

Kudos to the players for a great effort on their part.

Still shocked we haven't done anything to change our late-game (or late-half) defense that we've now seen in three straight games (which I guess is more of a Chavis problem than Miles problem). Oh well, let's see if that gets fixed this week.

I was wrong. It's not thinly veiled. You just wanna hate on Miles all day every day regardless. Your hated has totally taken away any objectivity you could possess. I guess that is your hobby.

What did he say that was incorrect. Look, you can be wrong, and you are here. You're snark and sarcasm only carry you so far. He really doesn't misuse words.

You act like he got down on his knees and took a bite out of the turf. If you actually paid attention to anything but your on delusions, you would have plainly seen that he picked one blade of grass and put part of it in his mouth. Being from Louisiana, if you haven't seen anyone do this, it's because you never associated with anyone ever.

He doesn't do nearly the amount of stupid shite people think he does. You know why you think you have so many examples? Because he's been at LSU for 8 years and he's successful. Coaches that actually are as dumb as people think Miles is, don't last.

Plenty of coaches have mismanaged the clock and made bad calls in close games.

I can see fine said the blind man. If you were to lay this personal measuring stick of what defines a truly great coach and coaching effort that you have in your head, on any coach in college they would all come out as stupid, retarded, scared, and unfit. Truth is you really only lay this unrealistic standard upon one coach. Les Miles. Why? Cause its all about the hate.

I wouldn't say Miles is stupid, but he's definitely a quirky arse guy. Its why I like him but its also why he frustrates the shite out of a good majority of the fans.

Its a situation, IMO, where you take the good with the bad. The good far outweighs the bad. We win some games we shouldn't and we don't lose games we should win 99% of the time. The "problem" is the toss ups. You won't win every game. Period.

The only time I've been truly pissed the frick off was the NCG. Not because we lost, but because we got absolutely smoked and he appeared to make zero effort to get us in the game.

Like everyone else, Miles drives me crazy from time to time...In fairness when Saban was here, he drove me crazy with ultra conservative calls as well....I was there when we lost to Auburn on the road when play calling sucked...I was there in Georgia, 2004 when they kicked our butts and Saban was clearly out coached that day...Saban has clearly evolved taking advantage of his SEC experience at LSU and his NFL growing pains...LSU Saban had his flaws...
Any of us who are in business know it is at least as hard to us maintain success as it is to build it..Saban gets huge credit for building our program and Miles gets huge credit for maintaining...We are a state small in population and yet we go toe to toe with Big Bad Bama on a regular basis...what other SEC team is not afraid of Saban? What other SEC coach would you rather have?

i level the same criticisms towards any football coach

quote:

there is no platonic ideal of a CFB coach

although i give chip kelly credit...he's improving his overall game. i wonder what he could do at a real school in a state with talent (esp on Ol/DL)

quote:

no i don't

it's the same standard for all coaches

i only post about one coach on this board, b/c this board is about LSU and we have 1 head football coach

So because it hasn't been used that way means it's incorrect? That's a ridiculous stance to take.

quote:

i have never seen an adult do this. never

Then I guess you've never been outside in a rural setting. That's fine, but it doesn't mean that it doesn't happen all the time.

quote:

he can't give a fricking interview without sounding like a weirdo stumbling to get out his words

Maybe he just doesn't like the people doing the interviews. He seems just fine in some instances.

quote:

you do know before he came to LSU when nobody knew who he was, there were already examples of his shite on youtube, right?

And you know what? He was successful then too. Like I said, if he were as dumb as people think he is, he wouldn't still be coaching. He'd be in a corner drooling somewhere.
