Anyone has suggestions for cooking ribeyes in the oven with potatoes and carrots. I've had it before, just don't know the best way to cook it.

if i'm gonna spend money on ribeyes, i'm lighting the grill.

I'd sear it off in a scolding hot skillet first then finish in oven.

if you cook your steak start to finish in the oven and not broil it...It will taste Blah

I used to broil them sometimes. Now they're either grilled on the Weber or cooked in a skillet and finished in the oven.

My eyes were opened reading this board as to the proper way to cook a steak. For several years, I struggled to get it right until I read this forum. The BEST METHOD is to cook it under very high heat. Just search the site, but you should cook the veggies seperately.

The time I had it they were cooked the whole time in the oven and were very good. The vegetables had soaked in the juice and had good flavor.

I don't know for sure, but I've heard that the defrost setting on the dashboard is the way to go.

Braising is usually reserved for lesser cuts of meat, but here goes...Shootin' from the hip here...
Dust them with flour. Brown them on each side in a couple tablespoons of oil. Remove. Saute' some onions and peppers. Add the steaks, a cup of red wine, a cup of beef broth, and salt-pepper to taste. Cover and bake in a 325 oven for about 30 minutes. Add carrots and potatoes. Bake for another 30 minutes or until the veggies are tender.

Throw the ribeyes and veggies in a rolling boil with a little vinegar and rock salt. After about 30 minutes, drain and place in oven at 375 for 45 minutes.

So you finally tried it! It works great. Make sure you do it at 50% power until the internal temp is 85-90°…then sear 2-3 mintiest per side in veggie oil in a cast iron or 18/10 stainless steel skillet.

This is an excellent alternative. I noticed, when I was in Boston last year that many of the locals were doing this. They were oblivious to certain spices though. They needed some Tony's

I did this from the board's suggestion two weeks ago with Filet Mignon. Best steaks ever. Wife loved it. Making it for the second time tonight. But I can't remember the oven temp. Thinking it was 400.
Unlike the OP, I'm not putting veggies in it. Just mushrooms to go with gravy over rice.
