Am I the only one who thinks the Yuuzhan Vong War is the logical setting?

Disney President Iger says the plan is to deliver 7, 8, and 9 starting in 2015 every 2 years and then have a start wars feature film every 2-3 years ongoing.

I can never get enough!

2015 is fricking stacked. The Avengers 2, Justice League, and Star Wars Episode 7 all in one summer. My inner nerd just jizzed himself into a heart attack.

Another SW movie is a lifetime bonus!

Under the terms of the agreement and based on the closing price of Disney stock on October 26, 2012, the transaction value is $4.05 billion, with Disney paying approximately half of the consideration in cash and issuing approximately 40 million shares at closing. The final consideration will be subject to customary post-closing balance sheet adjustments.

Sweet B Double O T Y oh my that is a lot of money.

It's with the possibility of more than one movie right? Because that could turn in to chump change depending on what all they do with it.

Also, let's be honest, George Lucas is the dumbest smart guy on the planet. Well next to Robert Smith.

For me personally, ftr I'm not a star wars fanboy, but this is exciting/good news. The boys at Pixar getting their hands on Star Wars, Yeesh, I'm scared just thinking about how awesome it would be.

That makes a lot of sense.

I could have seen a Thrawn Trilogy if this was 10-15 years ago.

I mean they could still do a play on that with it set much more in the future...but I think they go with a whole new story.

Disney now owns Star Wars so they can make as many movies as they want. The plan is to do 7, 8, 9 starting in 2015. After that trilogy is done there will be Star Wars features made every 2-3 years.

I don't know if that will be the case for 7, 8, and 9. That movie either has to involve the trio or their offspring/descendants.

I like the idea. Perhaps with someone other than Lucas writing, the story could be good and without cringe worthy dialog.

They are going to have to pump out a zillion of these to recoup 4 billion.

haha, its not just about the movies. the licensing/crossover marketing, ILM business generates hundreds of millions. combine tthat with Disney's ability to integratet the brand across mulitple businesses 10 years from now this could look like a steal at $4B

Who are some filmmakers that are "in the Disney family" that might be tasked to do this? Keep in mind that Disney has a very large umbrella with a variety of companies.

You have to pick someone to run this thing, right? Like Joss Whedon with Avengers?

We've talked about Brad Bird, I'm trying to think of others.
