you idiots who think the books will factor in one iota in the direction of hte new films need to go back to your dungeons and dragons games. nobody cares about the books. they make take a few ideas from them but they will not use those books as the basis of scripts/plots. you are fooling yourself if you think it will happen

Yeah, screw books man, who wants to read anymore. So much intelligence on this board, what a waste of time trying to reason with such Godly intelligence.

I could at least understand some of the people who posted reasons not wanting it due to some of them having issues, but it's just funny how quick some of you are to trash on something you've never read.

It's not that we hate books, but let's not pretend the Star Wars books are the masterworks of Michael Chabon or anything. They are pulp novels, competently made but not exactly great literature.

And to follow up on the "Will they use the books?" qustion: No. No, they won't.

Nevertheless, today E! and The Wrap both have the first of what will be untold millions of tiny clues to be pored over, if Lucas has his way, for the next 100 years, beginning with the assertion that Star Wars: Episodes 7 through 9 will all be based on "an original story"—not Timothy Zahn's Thrawn Trilogy, as many have suggested or even demanded, and likely not anything else that's been deemed official canon in the Star Wars Expanded Universe. Ergo, your extensive knowledge of all things Joruus C'Baoth and ysalamiri is useless, except for the purposes of getting people to have sex with you.

To Breesus and others: What did yall not like about the prequels?

Just wondering. I mean they were okay, but it seems that yall really strongly disliked them.

On the plot of 7, 8, and 9:

quote:

One person who might have a clue is Dale Pollock, author of the unauthorized biography Skywalking: The Life And Films Of George Lucas. In a chat with TheWrap, Pollock revealed that he was able to read the outlines to Episodes VII, VIII and IX, but had to sign a confidentiality agreement preventing him from revealing the specifics of their contents.

"It was originally a 12-part saga," recalled Pollock. "The three most exciting stories were 7, 8 and 9. They had propulsive action, really interesting new worlds, new characters. I remember thinking, 'I want to see these 3 movies.'" He added that an older version of Luke Skywalker appears in the final trilogy. We'll see if any of these elements remain in the final version of the third trilogy.

I'm sure that is old news. I wouldn't put stock into any information that predates the middle of this year.

just read an article on the force dot net that linked an interview with Mark Hamill and he said Lucas met with him and Carrie Fisher a year ago August to tell them they were planning to make the 7-9 films but that he would not be directing. Hamill says he has no idea if he will be asked to be in them but my guess is that at least he and Fisher will have small parts of some kind.

I wouldn't mind a passing of the torch, but I don't want Luke to have that much of a role, and especially not Carrie Fisher since she's let herself go since way back in the day.

Not every 50+ year old woman can be as attractive as they were in their 20s and 30s.
