basically that organic is not healthier (which I don't know anyone that argues that), that the pesticides/herbicide residue is not harmful, and that most organic food is made my large corporation, and a lot of it is grown in China.

which is all probably true, but I still will buy organic fruits and veggies simply because they often just look better or fresher

Please enlighten me. Seriously.

I'd prefer that the meat that I purchase from stores come from animals who were treated well and not miserable until the day they were slaughtered. Having said that, I don't really trust the "free range" label, or the "no steroids" label".

I do know that the Miss Goldie whole chicken fryer that I buy at the supermarket is less than half the price (and usually larger) than the organic chicken that my wife insists on buying at Whole Foods.

i'm no scientific rocket but it seems like common sense to eat things that have the least amount of pesticides if possible, i don't need a study to figure that out.

According to that video, foods that are labelled organic do use pesticides, but just not the same "synthetic pesticides" that is used on regular crops. The video claims that older pesticides are more toxic.

organic food uses pesticides as well..just through loopholes with pesticides that are classified as 'natural based' and sometimes might even be worse than what they're replacing

so i'm no rocket scientist either but i'd rather go w/ what's been working the last 100 years instead of being a guinea pig for the latest 'fad'.

as far as chickens, one of my friend's wife is the federal veterinary inspector for the Tyson plants in Center and Carthage, Texas and I asked him one day if they eat the chicken from Tyson, and he said "yes', so that was good enough for me

CSB: i've met Alex Avery, the guy in the video who wrote "the truth about organic foods." i've heard him speak on the topic of industrial farming and chatted with him a bit after his presentation. he seemed pretty nice during our brief (15 minutes or so) one-on-one chat.

there were people in the audience citing studies that contradicted a number of his claims but, personally, i have no clue if he knows what he is talking about.

Eating organic isn't a 'fad.' I'd rather buy my fish from whole foods where it isn't full of mercury, etc. Obviously eating an apple from Wal Mart won't kill you but I like my food as clean as possible. That just seems like common sense to me. P & T are ideologically driven libertarians who think the market will magically clear up the growing amount of toxins in our every day environment
