Trading a new gun for another.

Can you take a gun that was won in a raffle and trade it for another at a dealer, assuming it's new in the box and never fired? I am buying a rifle from someone who won it in a raffle. It's not exactly what I want but it's a good deal. The gun is an X-Bolt composite stalker and I want to pay the difference for the Medallion.

You can even trade a used gun.

You won't get full price probably but you will get a good deal
The reason being because the gun dealer can't legally sell that as a new gun now, so he will sell it at a used gun price and he will pay you accordingly
You aren't going to convince any of them to take a loss on it
ETA, if you are buying this gun from a friend with thoughts of trading it toward the new gun you are most certainly going to take a loss. It would be much smarter for you to take your cash and go straight to the Medallion... You will not get what you paid for the trade gun

I have that exact gun. Got it last year and love it. The synthetic stock is very nice and feels great. Not your typical composite found on 700s.

Yes you can. As someone earlier suggested they will not be able to sell it as a new gun. I bought that same gun for my son from a dealer who had someone do the same thing you are proposing - got a pretty good deal. You may be able to get a better price selling it out right yourself. Good Luck!
