Notre Dame and LSU similar?

ND and LSU must address similar problem before very big games that will go a long way in determining whether they go to the BCS title game. It will be interesting to see how the head coaches address the probles before such season defining big games.
"If you go back and look at each win, there's a lot of yardage there and a lot of time of possession where we're not throwing the football," Kelly said. "But having said that, we have to be better on third down throwing the football, and we have to be better in the red zone. And those are areas of emphasis, and if we're better in those two areas, then our efficiency is going to jump up. I'm interested in being more efficient in terms of our passing game."
The Yahoo Sports article could have been talking about LSU in many respects.

Okalahoma hasn't played a good defensive team like Notre Dame. When they played Texas everyone jumped on their bandwagom. Texas has the worst defense in the history of their program. Notre Dame' s defense is in the top 5.

The best offense notre dame has seen is rated #50 in points for... OU is #5. Notre Dame hasn't seen an offense like theirs, or anything close so far.

Brian Kelley is a offensive genius too.

Geeze guys this is not about LSU vs ND. This is not about whether ND is on the level of LSU or whether LSU would defeat ND in a game. This is about the offensive problems of both teams and how they will address them before a big game. WOW!
Did anyone actually read the article? 3rd down and red zone problems by both teams. Will they cram and pass the test in their season defining big games? I think it will be interesting to see how each prepared for and perform in the games as relate to those issues. How each coaching staff will address the problems before these two humongous games.

Well ND's results are in:
3rd down conversion: 7/15 = 47%
Red Zone: 4 Times snaps taken in Red Zone
2 TDs = 50% TD (3 TDs in 9 trips {33%) previous 2 games)
3 scores (2 TD, 1 FG) = 75%
LSU up next
Last game:
3rd Down Conversion: 2/16 = 13%
Red Zone: 2 Times snaps taken in Red Zone
1 TD = 50% TD 2 scores ( TD, 1 FG) = 100%

Unfortunately they've finally got a good coach and have awakened the sleeping giant that has done the Rip Van Winkle thing for the last 20 years or so...they are relevant again, and it's all about coaching. He reminds me of Saban the way he micromanages everything and gets in player's faces...
