I'm fairly new to speck fishing. I was wondering if its worth trying to go this weekend after the front passes?

I can tell you without a doubt that you won't catch any fish what so ever

If you don't go.

Hear stories for and against this but I mostly hear favorable stories for fishing after(or even just before) fronts.

The theory is that fish sense the barometric pressure change coming and they gorge themselves before so they don't go hungry if the baitfish get swept away. And after the ones that didn't gorge, are so hungry that they eat anything in the water.

Once the wind starts kicking up after a cold front you can pretty much forget trout fishing. Up to that point can be really good though.

Sat looks like it will be okay. A little north wind to keep the gnats off. I'd go.

All fish, not just trout, bite better before a front. Something I've been told since I was little, and has never let me down.

Go wet a line and find out for yourself. Even if you don't catch anything you were fishing. I have a newborn at home and would kill to go fishing this weekend and catch nothing. Do it!

In all seriousness, I find that before the front is better, but like others have said, if you can get out there before the wind picks up you should have a good chance at catching fish provided you know the area you are fishing. Once the wind is blowing, you may have a hard time finding clean water in the areas you want to fish. Best of luck.

Here's the way I look at it. After a front, the weather is usually nicer. I'd rather spend a pleasant day on the water. So I'd go and bring extra food and drinks.

this is truth. however, in my experience fishing is best the day before the front and about 2-3 days post front when the wind starts to lay down.

This front won't really impact the trout. The main problem is the water gets dirty. You just never know with trout...I had one of my best trips after a major cold front.

15-20 knot north winds are predicted from Friday night through Saturday night at this point, and that will make for tough fishing. Add in the post front blue bird skies and high barometric pressure, and it is gonna be a tough weekend for any species.

Not good.

But saltwater fish don't seem to be as finicky as freshwater. I have slaughtered them the day after a major front. Sometimes during the winter it actually helps because they all go into deep holes.
