frustrate many tiger fans is on one series LSU drove the ball the length of the field pimarily by running the ball. I believe this is in the third quarter. LSU gets down to the 10 or 15 yard line and they call a swing pass that went for a 2 yard loss.

LSU gets a field goal out of that drive. TAMU was done, finished! you could see it on the field. At our tailgate after the game everyone was talking about that particular play and asking the question, Why not continue to run the ball?

Yes, we win the game, but if their kicker could kick and they don't have the chop block call, which was the corredt call, they beat LSU.

For some reason the play calling goes full retard when we cross the 10. You just ran like 5 running plays in a row to get down there and then they try to trick everyone with a swing pass and 2 warecat plays. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

That was in the 4th and that is when we should have put the game away.

It was a quick screen to the slot WR on first. Then we lined up 5 wide and A&M called a TO. Then we did 2 direct snaps to Ware. We were gashing them for about 8 yards per carry that drive up to that point. Inside the 10, we completely changed it up though.

Last week everyone was saying that we lacked creativity in the red zone. Which way do you want it ?

I've experienced the same thing before back in the good ole days in high school. 78 yards on the ground to the 2, then three straight passes and a FG.

Yup, that was high school level playcalling. I feel like the coaches want to get cute like WVU and Oregon because they know our O is stale as shite but there is also a thing called "identity" and ours is to pound the fricking rock on a drive like that.

If you're gashing them for 8 yards per carry on that drive, stick with it. If you want to mix in a pass, work it off a PA and go over the top of the LBs into the back of the endzone.

How about this: Run the ball on first down, it's been successful all drive. If stuffed, go three wide and try a quick pass to WR/TE or FB out of backfield. Third down depending on what happens. A swing pass might work at the 50 when the CB is playing off 8 yards but they aren't going to be playing off at the 10 yard line. Stupid play all the way around.

I'm 100% certain that the bubble screen was not called. A&M was late lining up to the ball because LSU was running quick tempo at that point. Nobody was lined up over Landry, and just like we have done all year, the qb has the freedom to throw the quick screen outside anytime it looks open. Where the play got blown up is that right about the time Mett put his hands under the center, an A&M safety ran up to cover Landry and by the time the ball got out to Landry, we had an unblocked defender staring him in the face. If you watch the play, you can see that all of the lineman and back were running a run play to the right side.

Just a really bad break for LSU there.

As for the play that A&M called a timeout, I don't think I'm giving any secrets away to Nick Saban, because he's been known to look at an opponents game film, but LSU spread everyone out wide in a trick formation (Right tackle was split out wide) and we were about to try and sneak Chase Clement, who was lined up in the tackle postion, up the middle of the field for a quick touchdown (we did this to Ohio St in the National Title game). Actually, I'm not sure Clement would have been open, but A&M burnt the timeout when we shifted to the odd formation.

heck, creativity would be running out of a passing formation. not 4 wideouts, necessarily, but 3 wides, a TE and RB.

Hell, let Mett throw the ball in the end zone. when was the last time we let mett throw the ball into the endzone when we had crossed inside the 20? Geez!

I hate when people do this...because this does work both ways...does it not?

Look at the above drive, the one we are currently discussing. It is the one drive of the game that LSU went 3 WR's, 1 RB. We spread out the defense a little bit and gashed them with the running game.

This has been one of my biggest complaints against Miles offense. There are times that he wants to be conservative on 3rd and 6, I understand that. But at least line up in a 3/4 WR set, perhaps with the QB in shotgun, and then run the ball from there. You don't have to line up in I formation everytime you choose to run the ball.

This drove me nuts too. If you are going to be conservative in the 3rd quarter and run on 3rd and 6 on their 35, then punt it and pin them deep after that. Playing for a 50 yard (before the penalty) FG is not conservative.
