Who said it was a jab? That's an honest assessment from someone who's been there often enough to know.

Additionally even the staff will tell you as much. Half the staff came from Red Star for God's sake.

Finally, I personally have no problem with hipsters bars.

This wouldn't happen to stem off from the thread a few weeks ago about if you were starting a bar, what 6 beers would you keep on tap would it?

I'm not a big fan of the name by the way.

The name or the place? This new place looks legit. I'm excited to check it out. Bar names don't matter much to me, but I do think Mud and Water is a MEH name.

I will miss L Bar because it was the home for my music, but they moved the monthly +One to upstairs at Splash (actually it's this Friday!!!) so I don't mind. I actually liked the way Splash's upstairs was set up much better. Only complaint is that the bathroom is unisex and I don't like there being dudes peeing in front of me.

I make Jones come into the stall and everything with me. I'm a weenie.

pretty sure its name is from the fact that it is on the Miss. River... But who cares, people like or hate a name and after awhile...its just the name of the place...

the name works much better in conjunction with the logo, but does have it's fans for sure. Rather be different than call it the levee bar or bridge lounge but cannot please everyone i guess.

right now there is Canebrake, LA 31, rotating Abita, Guiness and Tin Roof. Went mostly local obviously. Will always be a $5 rotating house red, white and bubbly.

Obviously. Just name it something like River Bar. It's simple and easy. Mud and Water is just an awkward name to say.

"Hey man, where are yall going tonight? The Bulldog? Chimes? Northgate Tavern?"

"Nah, I think we are going to grab dinner downtown and then stay somewhere in that area. Maybe we'll go to Mud and Water. Care to meet us there?"

"Yeah that sounds good. See yall at Mud and Water around 10."

Meh...it's a terrible name man. You're trying to put lipstick on an elephant. It wouldn't deter me from going there by any means, but it isn't good...at all.

or how about just the bar...

I'm just saying it could be called the bloody a-hole and after awhile it will be "...going to meet up with joe at the bloody a-hole..." and you wont think twice...

Maybe they wanted an original name... I dont really know
