It was interesting that one of our big defensive adjustments yesterday was to play a significant amount of 3-4.

Rather than analyzing the results from yesterday (which were obviously good), does anyone see us shifting more in that direction next year due to personnel and depth? It seems like after the DL exodus this year we will amazingly have more depth an experience at LB for the next couple years.

Thoughts?

Doubt it. That adjustment was made for aTm's offense specifically. Probably wouldn't benefit us very much at all against most SEC teams, especially Alleybama.

that was the mustang, not a 3-4. a 3-2-6. we've been running it for a while, that's just the most extensive use we've made of it this year.

we were actually in 3 man fronts before the announcers noticed, it just wasn't as noticeable with LBs at times lining up between the DL.

We ran nickel and dime package but had Eugene in the box a lot to help contain Johnny. We blitzed either him or a lb pretty often. Prolly won't see it much, that was specifically for aTm because of Johnny ability to get by our DL even when we have him contained. He's quick

Gotcha. Not that anyone thinks we would go predominantly to a 3 down lineman scheme, just looking at the roster it begs the question of who will step up next year outside of Freak, Ego, and Rasco.

Young guys like Mickey, QT, Danielle Hunter, and incoming freshman will need to play a very big role.

It's just semantics. The 3-6-2 is a 3-4 with lighter faster personnel to match Tamu's personnel. In any event, it sure worked well.

I really am worried about the DT exodus next year and the lack of depth and recruiting at that position. Our success the last few years has been due to our owning the defensive interior line more than any other factor. Next year it will be Ego and Freak with Mickey Johnson and Quinten Thomas behind them. I expect a drop off.

Well, we don't know that Logan's leaving, and who's to say Ego or QT don't step up and become a force? No one saw Bennie coming last yr, or Brockers becoming the beast he did so fast

In Chief, Moffitt and Brick I trust.
