Bigger Casting Failure: Reacher or Alex Cross

Thinking about the recurring "Tyler Perry is Alex Cross????" and "Tom Cruise as Jack Reacher!?!?!?" threads --
which is the bigger failure of a casting job?
I enjoy Patterson books with Alex Cross. And thinking of Tyler Perry as Cross is just annoying.
But there is no way... no paralleled universe... no possibility that I can get past midget Tom trying to pull off 6'5" 280 lbs. Jack Reacher.
Hell, if Tom Cruise is going to try to pull off Jack Reacher, he might as well buy the rights to all of Carl Hiaasen's books and cast himself as Skink.
It just pisses me off.

I'm 5'7 w/o shoes and have stood close enough to Cruise to measure heights and was taller. I was in flip flops and he had on dress shoes with at least an inch heal.

Cross is the bigger failure.
While Cruise may not look like Reacher is described. We have seen Tom Cruise be bad arse before and do it well.
