be real man.. weed is a lot less harmful than alcohol is... but i'm not going there in this thread.. if you want to debate this shite, start a thread about it in the OT... it's on if you do

so why isn't this being reported by the big "sports" news sites?

Nah. That would be a likely waste of perfectly good bandwidth. Let's get back to trashing SI and CNN.

Didn't I just see a flier on this board with clowney and another SC player promoting a party?
Posted on 10/17/12 at 4:00 pm to motorbreath
Clowney ahs been thru this, as has Watkins at Clemson.
This is just gratuitous scumbag journalism.
Tyran is no longer on the team;
There is no NCAA investigation;
The harassment of the family is inexcusable;
The attempts to bribe, if true, are fraudulent;
There is no "hot news" or dated information to jsutify haste in getting this on the front page of the Mag.
Editors exist to make sure this type of crap never makes it into print.
Who was the editor and what does he offer by way of justification or mititgation?

SI Accused of Bribery for Mathieu Story

SI Accused of Bribery for Mathieu Story
quote:
The Oct. 22 cover story of Sports Illustrated is titled “Trials of the Honey Badger.” In the story, writers Thayer Evans and Pete Thamel document the struggles of former LSU cornerback Tyrann Mathieu, including allegations that he promoted a Baton Rouge club, The Palace, in violation of NCAA rules. A promoter for the club, Xavier Williams, not only denies the allegations but also accuses the magazine of bribing him to slander Mathieu for the story. “The guy with Sports Illustrated, he tried to bribe me and also offer me $2,500 just to say things that really didn’t take place,” Williams said in an interview with WBRZ-TV. “He wanted to know if we gave him [Mathieu] free drinks, and we don’t give anyone free drinks. And also he wanted to know if we let them in for free, and I told him no.” In addition, Mathieu hired a law firm last week in an attempt to stop SI’s interview requests, which he said had gotten out of hand. “They called from blocked numbers repeatedly, asking me why I was dodging them,” Mathieu said. “They came to my home and that of my elderly mother on multiple occasions.” Even as the Honey Badger spends 2012 on the sidelines with hopes of returning to LSU next season, he is still creating a stir.

Thayer Evans and Pete Thamel...
This is what they do.

Don't be a hypocrite. Alcohol has much worse short and long term effects. I love to drink tho, but using that against smoking is completely ludicrous.

does this phrase get under anyone else's skin as much as it does me??
It gets under mine because it's incorrect. It was never officially said by anyone at LSU that this was the case. Sure, all evidence leads to this conclusion, but LSU never released any statement confirming it. I'm no journalist, but I think it's lazy to just take what everyone assumes and make it sounds like it's 100% fact.

So is there a lawsuit in this or not?
Posted on 10/17/12 at 11:01 pm to ForeverLSU02
SI says there is no truth to the sabotage or bribe story and that it is obvious...That's ridiculous. If SI is in BR looking for a story on TM7, there's definite motive from their end. National media needs to pick up on this. Additionally, TM7 needs to stop tweeting and keep his arse out of the spotlight.
