Does anybody know of a credit card that gives back more than 1% on any/every purchase?

TIA.

Go to Fidelity’s website and look for American Express Rewards. My wife and I have one that pays 2% on everything. One kicker, the cash back has to go into a Fidelity account.

Eh, it's not that simple. Yeah, you get 2% on everything, but you only see that return on travel-related purchases, and even then there is a pretty significant transaction/processing fee that goes with that.

If you use it to purchase non-travel items or request a check for your points, you actually only get around 50% of the actual "value" (ie $100 check will cost you 20,000 points instead of 10,000).

Amex blue preferred

6% groceries
3% gas and dept stores
1% all other

75 dollar annual fee waived first year

There's also a free version with 3,2, and 1% in the same categories

Well worth it, if you decide you'd like to try it, I wouldn't mind referring you, croacka@gmail.com, just shoot me an email of you'd like to

I always take out everything in gift cards.

Amazon/Walmart/brooks brothers gift cards are as good as cash to me.

Using them to book travel seems like a PITA.

Booked a flight through them for personal travel last week, hooked to Travelocity, easy as pie. Same cost as what I saw on 4 other travel reservation sites, so pretty good deal. There always seems to be a haircut on miles charged for air travel, Cap One Venture no different than say, Delta Sky Miles/AMEX cards.

The Costco AMEX is 2% cash back on travel and restaurants, and 3% on gas, but only 1% on everything else. If one doesn't use Costco it is a moot point, but no annual fee for the card with Costco membership.

I recently got a capital one Journey card and it gives 1.25% cash back everywhere. And the rewards are easy, just applied to your statement or sent as a check without any travel/gc requirement to get the entire amount.

Another vote for the amex blue cash. They did just put a $6k spending per year cap on the 6% grocery store. after you reach the $6k grocery store spending drops to 1%.

Chase Freedom is 1% on all purchases, but 5% back in bonus categories quarterly with a $1,500 max ($75 cash back max). It's 1.1% cash back if you are a chase checking customer. The 5% categories are generally everyday expense categories like groceries, gas, and restaurants. No annual fee and to my knowledge no cap on rewards. Been a great card for me.
