How could a player stop someone from printing their face on a flyer anyway? They'll do what they want

What I dont understand is that the NCAA always pumps their chest out about "Most NCAA athletes will be going pro in something other than sports" but I guess rapping/hip-hop is not one of those things you can go pro in.

What a joke of an article. Most of the article is full of quotes from uncited sources and from a man who in prison for the rest of his life.

What a creditable article.

Personally I think the NCAA is a little cautious about throwing the book at this issue. It essentially amounts to them saying "chill out club promoters, we're the only ones who get to pimp out these kids' images for a profit."

Exactly. I'd like to hear the NCAA's explanation if they actually tried pursuing this issue.

There may be more complications in store for Tyrann. According to several family members, he is expected to become the father of a boy in January.

What's the difference between using an image on a club flyer and using player images on SI, ESPN, and tv? Can they prove he benefitted from the club?

This is a very strange article. It starts off as a human interest piece and moves into conjecture on possible NCAA violations. I understand wanting to illustrate negative influences surrounding him but why not phrase it "Mathieu was involved in promotional events for his friends, which, whether he was aware of them or not, could be construed as an NCAA violation." That would be an unbiased statement. The article seems to stall there and circle around violation. Also, the author(s) seem to contradict themselves on whether he is eligible or not. Who is the copy editor there? Chalk another one up to the media sensationalizing another story.

Then I guess the decision is to keep Mathieu and get rid of the entire LSU Compliance Department?

Tyrann Mathieu 'Permanently Ineligible To Play Football At LSU,' Says LSU Compliance Officer

By JP Starkey on Aug 13, 6:30p

Louisiana State's compliance officer ended any speculation that recently-dismissed defensive back Tyrann Mathieu could return to the team in 2013.
Per the Shreveport Times, Bo Bahnsen, LSU's senior associate director for NCAA compliance, declared Mathieu "permanently ineligible" at LSU.

Good God, he looks stoned to the bejeesus.

I'm not sure where the NCAA violation would be there, though.

No, for using his picture in a fricking LSU jersey to promote their shitty music. Even going as far as to give him VIP status and promote that the entire football team will be at concerts.

Didn't some NC players get suspended for similar VIP and free booze at a party from an agent in Miami? This seems minor compared to that and they weren't kicked off team. Worst case would be an additional short suspension if anything. But I don't know the precedent for these things.

Everyone is holding their fingers in the same manner, is that what you call a "gang sign"?
