the idea that this coaching staff does not know what it is doing? I get so sick and tired of hearing all the BS people peddle on this topic, most of it based on the ZERO minutes they have ever played/coached football in their life. Guys like Chopique, for example. Sometimes, it's on the players to execute. They did not against Florida. They did (for the most part) execute against USCe. Had the second coming of Joe Montana been a wee bit more accurate, we beat USCe by 21+.

Pretty much this. And if the WRs hold on to the ball @ UF we win that one by 2 TDs. This past Saturday was the first time since UW that the entire team looked to be jelling like a mofo. If that continues the rest of the season is going to be

So when every player on offense has bad game after bad game, then after a crescendo of backlash they suddenly look much better, then what happened was just a sudden change in heart / ability by every player?!?

The change from the first 5 games to last weekend has nothing to do with the coaches?

My only beef with UF was that it was the same shite we saw against Auburn. I thought we would have called better plays. I agree execution helps. If OBJ holds on to the ball, who knows.

Nope, the Rant is much smarter than them, and they know it.

Actually, on their punt return that set up the score there were two consecutive plays where no face mask was called, one on clement and one on josh d. The next play was when mett threw obj high and he came down out of bounds. USC player then torpedos himself at our defenseless receiver and actually clips the back of his helmet. Same exact play that loston got called for. We prob score on that drive given the penalties and they dont get the huge pr.

The coaches have made adjustments every game, the plays just werent being executed. Instead of the wrs dropping balls, Mett was a lil errant on his passes. I cant wait till both of those groups are clicking on all cylinders.

But this is hypocritical. If you are going to laud the coaches and credit them for victories when the players execute, then you must equally criticize the coaches and fault them for losses when the players fail to execute. You can't, on the one hand, give the staff credit for wins generated by excellent player execution and then, on the other hand, insulate the staff from blame for losses generated by poor player execution. Ultimately, the staff is responsible for ensuring that the players execute by instructing them, motivating them, instilling discipline in them, and creating gameplans which put them in a position to succeed. Hence, the staff should be acclaimed when the players execute and faulted when they don't. That's only fair and symetrical.

So what you are saying is that th LSU coacing staff saw the problems and made adjustments? Sounds like a pretty damn good staff to me.

Feel good if u want every win is great of course. This offense is still only using 2 or 3 route options in the passing game. USC stupidly played their safeties back most of the night thinking their front could stop the run didn't
work. I would just love to see us hurt someone through the air. A&M will certainly dare us to throw and I bet my paycheck Miles runs right at them. Playing on the road against a jacked up team = difficult to run.

Stop being so sensitive. No coach, team, or program is perfect or above criticism. Every team has weaknesses. Most weaknesses get exposed at some point during the season. Last year LSU developed problems offensively towards the end of the year. Those problems were exposed in the National Title game. This team has things they have to improve on, but so does Bama and every team.

Being able to run the football and defend the run makes up for a lot of inconsistencies in other areas.

I think how a team executes is primarily on the coaches. The players have to have the will to learn and the ability to carry out the plan and the coaches have to be communicate that to them. But I don't think it just a matter of coaching. Some guys are more "coachable" and have more maturity. Some guys may be worried about whether they are gonna get any after the game. You never know.

As far as this past weekend, overall execution was pretty damn good. The red zone thing on offense scares me. Not sure how to fix it. It is not as simple as some magical play calls. Bama had the exact same problem last year and never resolved it. It cost them against us.

The X/O thing is fiction. You don't get to the level these guys are being stupid. To think anything else is, well, stupid.

If you don't think Miles deserves criticism for UF, you are an idiot.

If you don't think Miles deserves to be complimented for USCe, you are an idiot.

That said, it will take every toss dive call being housed from this point forward to be considered successful this season. That play is not working.

Are you kidding me??? These guys continued to play JJJL at quarterback last year when EVERYBODY with half a brain knew that Mettenberger, even absent a single live action snap outside of junior college, would have been far, far more effective. And this year, notwithstanding the inability of this clown Mettenberger to light it up in his first season against SEC competition with inexperienced wideouts, they don't know enough to sit him down and let either a vastly more experienced transfer from Pedophile State or a freshman who is, after all, tall, step in and do the job right. Coaches? BS. They're bums!
