Trai Turner matches up with Jesse Williams MUCH better than Williford

Turner & Williams are both round 6'2 325, very strong with low center of gravity. Josh W is listed at 6'7 and just can't get low enough to root a stout NT/DT out of the hole. Turner on the other hand seems capable. Not once have I seen Josh W, in all of his snaps, explode off the line, drive, & keep his block the way Turner did the other night. I was shocked watching him play & more optimistic about the run game against Bama. And not jumping on Williford, he's logged a shite ton of snaps in the trenches in the SEC & that ain't easy, just think Trai gives LSU the best chance for victory

I'm all for keeping the same o-line unit going forward. Let them continue to gel at aTm and throughout the bye before Bama

Williams is going to be over lonergan fwiw.

But yeah, we have some serious thoroughbreds on the line now.

Saban is going to confuse the shite out of them though.

Keep it simple IMO. Hat on a hat, pound it

Yep. And Trai plays with a freaking mean streak too. He was blowing people the frick up Saturday. Just gotta get out of College Station to set up a legendary 11/3.

saban won't be able to confuse them cause we are only going to pass 6-8 times on 11/3

We have had luck with taller guards over the years, especially Big Herm. I think Williford has a tackle's body, but a guard's arms and instincts. But your point is valid - there's a reason it is more common for the 6'6" to 6'8" guys to play tackle, while the 6'3" to 6'5" guys play guard and center - while the positions are similar, there are certain biomechanical advantages to being shorter, in certain situations.

Just starting my re-watch of the game, and Turner is flat out dominating on this first drive.

And it only gets worse for the USCe DL. Turner is blasting fools in the 4th.

Yea I know Wiliams plays NT but the guards are involved somewhat in blocking him

It's been a while since I've seen an LSU OL play that way, very sound in technique and drove after contact, keeping his block, not falling on ground flopping round like half dead fish

Can we get past Texas A&M before we start talking BAMA?

Figured I'd get one of those responses and your point is valid. I'm just so giddy at what I saw Saturday night that I couldn't help myself look ahead

Not if they lose to A&M Saturday.

Then it's back to burning down the LSU Athletic Bldg.

I was at the game and didnt really watch the O line.(Couldnt see em too well from the nose bleeds anyway, Lol). But I watched the replay last night, and Turner was an absolute beast. He was very impressive. No way can he be moved.

Never understood why this matters. Its ok if we lose focus. As long as the team isnt looking forward.

Turner is a better guard period. Williford was a OT coming out of high school, not a guard. 77th rated OT at that
