It's nice that you found ONE document that just so happened to have a date stamp of today on it...

How much do you want to bet that if you open that document tomorrow, it will say "accurate as of October 16, 2012?"

Yeah, it's just that when you talk to people who actually treat athletes with concussions, they tell you NOT to get back out there because of the cumulative effects of concussions.

And let's look at something from the CDC:

LINK

You should note that they follow the International Concussion Consensus Guidelines, which call for the athlete not to have concussion symptoms for at least 24 hours to return to activity.

Then there are several other steps that need to be followed until an athlete can return to contact.

NO WHERE do they say "come back in fifteen minutes".

I also find it interesting that you passed up the CDC study (among others) I found this on the first page of a Google search in order to find ONE study that confirmed your archaic beliefs that a guy should be able to come back and play with a concussion after waiting for 15 minutes.

From your first link, cool. You know 24 hours is less than a week, right.

From your second link:
quote:

This issue was extensively discussed by the consensus panelists and it was acknowledged that there is evidence that some professional American football players are able to return to play more quickly, with even same day RTP supported by National Football League studies without a risk of recurrence or sequelae.

Saying on a message board that Les Miles made a mistake = living a miserable life?

Explain that leap please. (And I didn't even say it. I'm just curious about your thought process)

24 hours is much greater than 15 minutes.

And the quote that you posted IS PRECISELY WHY THE NFL IS BEING SUED BY FORMER PLAYERS.

Does the NFL have a min. time out for any type of concussion? If not, there is no issue. Most drs want you to be free of any concussion symptoms for at least 24 hours I believe, for college.

From somebody who actually studies neuropsychology, there are different grades of concussions, the lowest allowing some to resume play after 24 hours. After being diagnosed with any grade, you should never to return to play less than 24 hours or 15 mins. Doing so would put you at serious risk.

So it is totally possible and fine for a player to return after 1 week?

That is precisely my point and the point behind my initial statement that there is no such thing as a "minor" concussion. Such a term is a misnomer that needs to be stricken from our vocabulary.

If there are different grades, then obviously the lowest grade would be the minor one. Minor is simply a relative term.

And again, the term "minor" should never be used to describe a brain injury, and brain injuries should NEVER be taken lightly.

Furthermore, anyone who lets someone back into a game fifteen minutes after a concussion is irresponsible.

When any topic mentioned is turned around/spun into a Miles bash it is pathetic IMO. If a player doesn't end up here, Miles fault. If a player does end up here but doesn't go all-american, Miles fault. If a player has a false start, it's Miles fault. so on and so on

The fact that LA residents will have to have a passport to fly out of the state starting on January 15, 2013 is Miles's fault.
