Latest version coming out in February and honestly i have to say that Im very excited about it. Last time I played one was back during Simcity 2000 days and that was quite a while ago. I've played Black and White 1 and 2 and it seems like the new Simcity plays like a mix of the previous games and B&W. It really looks good and the fact that you can influence the economy of other peoples citys really sounds interesting.

Giant animals gonna be hulking around the new simcity then?

God I hope so..
Meant more along the lines of having to take care of an ever growing population that you can actually see going on with their daily activities.

Yeah I feel you on that.I think I'll give the new one a look, and not sure how I feel about the forced interaction of economies though

One of my favorite game series of all time. I will definitely give it a shot, but I've been disappointed with some of the news coming out about it lately. Hopefully EA won't EA it up too much.
HERE is 9 minutes of gameplay footage recently released.

Played 2000 and I played 4. Love the series. It looks like they've fixed some of my interface complaints from 4. Crossing my fingers for this one to turn out good.

Ive played all of them, but played and loved 4 the most. Spent a lot of time creating new content for a SC-centric forum.
I was very disappointed that they didnt make the move to Hex tiles ala Civ V.
Hopefully they will fix diagonal transit as well in this game, but I have my doubts.
The best part of this game is that it will be even more moddable than SC4 was, so the old community can reform and fix the fricking game.

Worst feature added in the new SimCity: You're city is tied to your online account which means you cant save your city and then completely destroy it with alien robots and tornados.

If you look at the video I linked, it looks like they have fixed it. Roads and zones can pretty much flow in whatever direction you want.

that looks completely cosmetic to me. the mod community fixed the jagged edges fairly easily in SC4
the transportation flow however, was a whole different story. essentially, if you drew a diagonal line from point a to point b, the algorithm used to calculate the trip time did not recognize that it was a shorter than a right angle. a huge mod (the NAM) was needed to fully re-write the trip time to make diagonal roads functional.

You mean that you are forced to interact with the online community? Well thats lame. I hope there is some way to disable this but it IS EA.. Still looks great to me though. Expect too see a glistening Utopia to spring up with this guy.

no, you can manage all the cities within a region, just like in SC4

Looks like SC2013 is going to be a bust - big time.
No bridges or subways at launch
No mod support at launch
MUST have internet connection to play, even in single player region
No god mode terraforming
basically took all the sandbox elements out of the game. leave it to EA to really frick something great up.

frickING DAMMIT EA!! This company really is ruining all the games it makes. Everything it makes comes with a catch that forces you to pay more and more money to play the game you already paid for... shite is getting ridiculous.

Nope. That, along with mod support, are set to be released ... wait for it.....
.... wait for it .....
... in a DLC you have to pay for

Well, they already had one strike for being EA, two strikes for the shittiness that is Origin, and this will be strike 3 for me.

Its really just a cash grab. From what I have seen so far, they have done nothing to improve the game over what the modding community did for SC4.
So the curved roads are prettier now? So what?
To take the sand out of one of the ultimate sandbox games is just fricking dumb. Pure cash grab.
And what happens when EA realizes they cant keep the SC2013 servers up? Start charging a monthly fee? Make the game unusable?
