Where does this movie rank with the other baseball classics? I find myself watching it every time the MLB playoffs start.

Top 4

Bull Durham
Major League
Field of Dreams
For Love of the Game

I love the last inning of the movie. Great stuff. I thought the kid was gonna break it up TBH.

Didn't realize, though Major League is an exception.

Am I the only one who got bored halfway through For Love of the Game? That movie seemed like it just went on forever

The fact you have 'The Rookie' at 4 is kind sad. But it's your opinion, so good for you.

The scene where he tells his wife/son he made it is as good as any scene in any baseball movie ever made.

I thought it was dreadful. Very slow and some of the lines were just laughably bad.

Bull Durham shat in For The Love's mouth.

The book sucked.

Solid baseball movie, but not top 5. My top five: Bull Durham, Major League, The Natural, The Sandlot, Field of Dreams.

Oh shite. This is the Quaid movie. I was thinking Rookie of The Year.

I agree, lots of touching moments in that movie. My apoligies.

ETA: The scene where he gives the game ball to his dad was great. Good movie.

Yeah, but frick his dad.

I really, really dug FLoTG when I saw it. Haven't seen it since, but I remember fondly. Costner does great baseball movies.

Its good in my book, but some of the lines are a little corny, such as John C. Reilly's speech in the 9th inning. Kinda origional in story line and I like that. It takes place durring one game and best of all, the Yankees lose an important game at home.

I wouldn't put it in with the "classics", but it is a good movie that I re-watch on a somewhat regular basis.

Right behind Major League IMO.

It's so well done and the story has everything.

I'm always the exception on one movie it seems.

Can't stand Bull Durham

Boxing, can't stand Raging Bull, Comedies, can't stand Blazing Saddles.

Wow. Bull Durham is the best baseball movie not called Eight Men Out, Raging Bull is amazing, and Blazing Saddles.... let's just say your taste in movies is akin to your taste in college football teams.

Not a big fan of FLotG though. It's all right and has some moments, but all in all, it feels sort of flat.

Nobody else ever mentions Long Gone. I loved that movie.
