I would be receiving Harvin. I realize I would be receiving the best player, but I would be losing some depth, too. Conversely, the team I am trading with is in desperate need of depth. Here is my team (PPR league):

QB: Big Ben
RB: Foster/Mcfadden
WRs: Cruz/Brown
TE: Gates
Flex: Hernandez (injured)/Jennings (injured)/CJ2K/Doug Martin/Kerley

Bench:
Luck
Mike Williams
Brandon Gibson

Well I don't particularly need Gates once Hernandez is back. And Brown has been pissing me off. He's always so close to having a big game but either drops a td pass or pass interference prevents him from catching a td pass

I've never really gotten the depth argument...it is a game where you are only trying to score as many points as possible week in and week out...you have no way of stopping your opponent from scoring. Go for broke.

Every year I try to really make some moves by the middle of the season to field a core to ride with into the playoffs. Hell I don't even really want to have to make a decision that can cost me everything. Get the best possible team and just play them every week and let it sort itself out.

just seems like your selling Gates & Brown low.

i never like to do that. but if you fully trust in Hernandez, then do it.

Well you're giving 3 for one. Is he gonna just drop two guys from his bench? Or are you getting two more guys? If so who? He could have some valuable guys on his bench that he thinks are no good.

Sounds like a good trade.

Brown or gates have not been spectacular this year

He has 3 open bench spots. His team is very thin and in last place.

That does sound like a great plan, honestly, but it is nice to have some backup in case someone gets hurt or one player starts to obviously disappoint.

I follow that plan when it comes to "studs" vs. matchups. I'm taking the big time player every time. If even for the small fact you would feel like an idiot for benching Aaron Rodgers in case he did blow up against the 49ers or something.
