Depends heavily upon your perspective.

Why do we want jamacia to win?

I had the goal differential wrong; Guatemala winning is better.

The new scenario is:

US win or tie - Advance
US loss by 1 and Jamaica loss, tie, or win by 1 - Advance
US loss and Jamaica win by other amounts - tiebreakers, starting with goal differential

Also, if Jamaica wins by 3+ and we don't tie, they are definitely through over the loser of our game.

The Mexican programme is on the verge of an exponential leap. Just sayin'. I hope Jurgey is aware of this.

I don't think the Mexicans are that far ahead of us. They have these great youth teams, and then do little on the senior team. Like I said, it took them 79 minutes to score on lowly Guyana in basically a home game in Houston. They just happened to save face and score four more in ten minutes.

Granted we're not scoring five with this roster, but we put 5 past a bad Scotland team in June.

For years Mexico have looked like world beaters against CONCACAF nations, and then do little against major international competition outside of their excellent youth teams.

They have some really talented players for sure. I'm not doubting that.

Oribe Peralta
Hernandez
Guardado
That Olympic GK, Corona
Marco Fabian
Barrera
Aldo De Nigris

They still have a pretty average backline in terms of raw talent. They also have a ton of strikers with few playmakers to get them the ball besides their wide midfielders Barrera and Guardado.

Look at how we beat them in August. We shut down the center of the park and forced them to whip in crosses that our defenders could deal with easily.

That Canada-Honduras game in San Pedro Sula is going to be huge. Canada advances with a win or tie and Honduras advances with a win.

Hit the bar three times and missed a pk in first half. Could have been 4 easily.

Guyana sat in. Defended the shots very well. Good effort by them.

Didn't dominate by any means.

Until Mexican players consistently opt to play in Europe instead of making bank domestically in Liga MX, I'll keep my opinions. Aldo De Nigris could be a decent player for a solid Bundesliga or Ligue Un club. Instead he may never leave the millions more Mexican TV pays him to play for Monterrey against powerhouses like Jaguares de Chiapas or Atlas.

It's a different football culture south of the border. Making it to MLS isn't a capstone goal for young American players. Becoming a star for Chivas is a childhood dream for countless Mexicans.

And most Mexican stars come from affluent families. There's a lack of "real" Mexicans that make it to the show. Carlos Salcido story relays one of the few "brown" Mexicans to make it to The Three Colors.

Rich Mexican national kids are some of the most racist people that I've ever had the displeasure to daycare for in my time as a "childcare professional."

One kid told me in Spanish that he didn't like a girl because she was dark skinned.

At least in the South, people have the common decency to be racist at home while their grandparents reminisce about the good ol' days of segregation and poll taxes.
