we had multiple opportunities to push the ball, but instead we let them recover on defense, that pissed me off to no end

Only watched the last 13 minutes basically and it was starting to piss me off. The possession game sucks when you can't finish in the final third and have no width.

Balling up on defense and counter attacking like hell...seems to work pretty decently.

I don't know of any side, any side, that could have plowed them on that pitch. Add in the frustration and desperation, and it almost didn't come out as wanted. I'd call it a 'gritty' win.

This. Could you imagine Spain playing in place of us tonight? I don't think anyone could have come in and plowed. Not on that field. Not in those conditions. Not against those tactics.

So how will we play in Kansas City?

I pray Fabien Johnson will be ready to go. Looks like EJ has cemented himself a spot for the next game, perhaps even at the expense of Hercules.

I don't see the point in a post-win meltdown in this case. We all know we're kind of shite, let's just enjoy the fact that we didn't completely frick everything up tonight.

We didn't play outstanding, but the deck was stacked against us a bit...internally and externally.

We could've looked better, but I just wanted those three freaking points. I'll take this.

Come at me, bro.

The thing that bothered me most was the lack of chances created. A&B was bunkering most of the game, forcing us to make way too many negative passes back to our defenders. I get it Klinsmann, you like possession football. We don't have the players yet to unlock a tight team through the middle. We do have a bunch of hard and tall players to aim for in the box. We should have been hoofing in crosses Dalglish Liverpool style, especially knowing the lethality of GAM, Dempsey, Gordon and our defenders in the box.

Bob Bradley would have done this immediately. Bob Bradley could make in game adjustments better than any USMNT manager.

Only that they didn't settle down earlier. Not that they settled down prior to the goal, but at least they stopped trying to complete 20+ yard passes on the 'turf'.

It was ugly, and demanded mental fortitude. I don't know why Jurgey wasn't out on the touchline screaming like a madman to calm down, trot with the ball and triangle.

The thing to really bitch about is us giving up a goal. Dreadful conditions, but still we shouldn't have given up a goal. They barely had the ball.

GAM with a kind of touching interview Pleased for him.

Well get used to it. It shouldn't be a shocker in CONCACAF. Klinsmann should know this already. Especially with his staff. Shitty CONCACAF Refs, shitty fields, shitty team with questionable tactics. It's dirty as frick.

To have Landon hurt and knowing...
To have Shea hurt and knowing before hand, sorta....
To have Fab sick with the flu and knowing before the first game...
To not have any width in any of games.
To play possession ball w/o width, clinical passers, and finishers.
To be so naive to think you don't need any other players on your roster and not call up Eric Lichaj....even if he isn't a first choice, how isn't he a phone call away?

All mistakes by Klinsmann, IMO.

Dempsey was barely noticeable. Also this exact situation is why lichaj needs to be called up fricking Jurgen.

We played some ugly and frustrating football with him, but I never remember playing a game where we just passed the ball back and forth along the backline.

Exactly. Klinsmann's done some great things for US Soccer, but I don't think he was leaps and bounds better that Cousin Bob. Never have, since Day 1.
