Hey guys. I'm looking into buying my first bass boat. Been looking around a lot online but i'm hoping the OB can give me some advice on a good starter boat. I'm in the military and currently on a deployment so when I get back i'll have all kinds of dough to play with. I should probably save it but dang it I want a boat! Looked at a few Bass Trackers and I think I like those. My brother has one and he loves it. What say the OB??? TIA

If you like Bass Trackers and know someone that has one and likes it. Just go ahead and get one!

You deserve it! And thanks for serving this country to retain our freedoms! It is because of you that the rest of us can go buy boats.

Welcome to the board...if you like tracker also look at an Xpress as well. They make a nice tin rig in the same price point as a tracker.

And again thank you for your service.

nothing wrong with a bass tracker. I prefer an aluminum over fiberglass anyway for a bass / panfish boat

Thanks for serving our country

I picked up an Xpress a couple of years back and have no complaints. Before settling on a boat, make sure the engine's compression tested. Look through the wiring to make sure it's in good condition. If you're looking at aluminum, stick with welded, and check the welds for cracks or signs of weakness. Don't buy it without running it first.

I'm sure there's a bunch of things I left off, but bottom line, don't jump in the first boat that looks good to you. Make sure it's functional.

Appreciate the service

Im gonna go a different direction and say dont go aluminum. After my first fiberglass, I could never go back. Much harder to fight the wind and worse ride than fiberglass. I just picked up a 2000 Javelin 18' with a 2005 150 yamaha for 8k. Motor is barely broke in and like new. You can find a deal if you start lookng this time of year. Either way, good luck.

If you decide you want an Xpress I can sell you mine if it fits what you are looking for. The Triton aluminum bass boats are nice also.

If you're gonna be fishing south la the aluminum boats are the way to go IMO.

Express, G3, and Lowe are all a little Nicer than Tracker. You should be able to find a t deal GREAT deal on a used one. Ck Craigslist and Liuisiana Sportsman classifieds if you go that route.

Thanks for the service where are you?
