Just watched some of the UF tape. One thing really stood out on the run D that has me worried.

One three different read options, Montgomery has outside responsibility to contain the edge on the weak side of the play. All three times, he just stands there and lets the UF player blow by him to the outside. Once it was a WR coming across the face of the line on a jet sweep read, once was Gillislee, once was Driskel on a keeper. All 3 plays resulted in first downs. Over the last two seasons, I've watched a lot of game tape on SM99 and haven't seen this until last Saturday.
It was just kind of odd to see. When I saw the play I rewound it and expected it to be one of the younger DE's, not SM99.

Anybody else see/notice this? Is it an inability to read the play? Slow to react? Out of position?

Worries me a little since USCe will definitely run a bunch of this out of the shotgun.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't all these blown tackles in the second half? I'd like to think he was just gassed.

No. He doesn't miss the tackle. By the time he finds where the ball is, the UF player in each case was 5 yards by him. I don't think he touches any of them in any of the plays I saw to his side. Just weird to see considering how good he is.

You could be right though, could've just been gassed

Saw this coming

Legit question on the game film. Not having a nuclear meltdown. Just asking if anyone else noticed it. Too much to ask I know.

Well, I pretty much remember most of their big runs/TDs being over the left side of our line. Maybe Sam gave up some yards but the other side was getting manhandled.

I remember the Driskel play, and it almost seemed like he played it how you sometimes had to play Tebow on an option. by that I mean Tebow would have a pitch man to his outside, with another guy (sometimes Hernandez) between him and the LOS that he could do a shovel pitch type option to. but I don't remember seeing a pitch guy at all.

Exactly..... But there was no pitch man. That's why it just didn't look right. And they kept running that play in the second half

In contrast to our offensive woes, I bet the Chief fixes it if it is a problem

I don't think this is right and Sam was playing his gap.
DE has gap and RB, WL has contain and QB.
Not sure about the sweep, but they are teaching wDE not to react and stay square so QB can't read and causes QB to give inside or at least disrupt timing.
Maybe UF caught on, ignores wDE and keys WL as EMOL.

The DE almost ALWAYS has RB that the option is to. He was just squeezing to take his responsibility. He was doing his job.
