We all know Clowney is a concern, but how about stopping Lattimore in the run game. Clearly Lattimore is a better runner than Gillislee and Florida ran the ball 25 straight times in the second half of the game and we seemingly could not stop it. Were we just tired, injuries, thoughts? Can we hold Lattimore to under 100 yards rushing Saturday??

Gillislee is way faster and gets to the outside more. Latt is up the middle runner and I think we will fair OK against him.

The thing USCe does so well is run out of the shotgun. Our defense will be spread out all day.

At least the guys won't have to worry about the FL heat.

LINK

....now that they are playing in the frozen tundra of Baton Rouge.

We were just wore out & down 2 LBs.

The key to this game will be whether our offense can sustain drives & keep our D fresh.

I have a feeling he will be a pain in the second half. He is a tackle breaking SOB.

If our defense can stay fresh we can hold him to 100 yards which is good for a player of that caliber. Like Honkus said, we need to keep our D fresh. They can't play 3/4 of the game and sustain a high level.

I'm thinking the concern should not be with the defense.

You stop him by keeping him off the field and the D fresh. If we can't sustain drives on O, we will see a similar if not worse result.

Anytime the other team has a 15 minute time of possession advantage your defense will be gassed.

It was a way for the defense to not put the blame on the offense for sucking so bad. Its called not throwing your teamates under the bus.

Lattimore is only 1/2 the problem. Stopping Connor Shaw is the other 1/2. The "fake" to lattimore then keep by Shaw to the outside or the designed QB draw is tough to defend when you're "keyed in" on Lattimore.

Shaw Zone Read TD vs UGA

We run the designed QB draw in the shotgun, off the dealy, alot (esp in the redzone).

Shaw 60yd TD run vs the Citadel

Shaw 10 yd TD run vs FL (2011)

shaw 15 yd TD run vs Clemson 2011

Meh. You don't run this any better than Oregon did or any other spread team. Your offense is the least of our worries at this point. If we can't convert on 3rd down and keep drives going it won't matter what y'all run. It'll be a bloodbath in Tiger Stadium and not for the good guys.
