No, but you have to put things in perspective. What's his name who preceded Petersen at Boise State and ran the Colorado program into the ground barely lost at Boise State. Having a dominant program in a sh#### conference isn't as impressive as doing it in a conference that is having a run like the SEC is. Saban and Alabama in their WORST year in the last 5 years beat Big Ten co-champ Michigan State 49-7 in 2010. To put that in perspective, Alabama finished 4th in the SEC West that year. In other words, not all winning runs are created equal. Your competition makes a big difference.

Ok it works both ways, Nick Saban wasn't as impressive at Michigan State(a lesser top 25 program) as he has been at Alabama(blueblood program).

Also Petersen has beaten the Pac10 Champion, Acc Champion, Big12 Champion, MWC champion and SEC East Champion so the whole "his conference is shite" argument doesn't fly.

You're right but he only coaches 7-8 games against SEC opponents. Belichick has 16 games in which he could lose any given week. And how much parity is there in the SEC? Outside of LSU, UF, and USCe, what other SEC teams could even give Bama a game at this point?

Belichick IMO. Parity and playoffs make coaching in the NFL much harder than college.

This.
Also in pretty sure Belichick doesn't get to BEG his way into the Superbowl.

TOP FIVE. You are young and it shows. Saban is doing something NOW that is amazing. It was a whole lot different back when the other coaches coached. ITS WAY tougher to be AS GOOD NOW as back then.FACT.

I agree with this also. If Saban wins another this year , his run from 08 until now will be top 5 run , ALLTIME.MAYBE top 3.

And going back to Saban sucking in the NFL...so? Coaching in the NFL isn't harder than coaching in college, it's just different. A lot of successful NFL coaches probably wouldn't have been as good as Saban has been/will be in college.

I hope you're joking. Many Bama posters say Saban selects recruits. Pretty sure you can't just select which pro player you want.

It didn't matter. We came back with a team that arguably has more talent than last year's.

No way. Last year's Bama team didn't struggle to beAt ole miss by 30. Come on man.

I would like to hear your Top 5 then all time...

Let alone the last 20 years...

Carroll's run from 2003-2008 (7 losses in 6 years; 34 game unbeaten streak - two and a half years ranked #1)
Dr. Tom early 90's to late 90's (3 losses in 5 years; 26 games unbeaten)
FSU? Bowden

That's just recent...let alone the 80's, 70's, 60's, 50's, 40's. OU did win 47 games in a row?

You Michigan and Ohio State fans are funny. Bellichek is better than Saban but Saban has already won as many national titles as Woody and Bo and he did it in a much deeper conference instead of the Big Two and the 8 dwarfs conference that Woody and Bo dominated during their heydey. Woody's Ohio State program was Alabama's prison bitch in his only head to head meeting against Bear Bryant.

IMO it is obviously Belichik; however, Saban is still an unbelievably great coach.

My top 5 is
1 Oklahoma 47 in a row
2. Nebraska early to mid 90's
3 if Bama wins this year ( it's much harder to win now because , before this ear in CFb , the blue bloods had major recruiting advantages by having p my the best programs televised. Now almost every team from Major conferences are on tv.

ETA: forget USC run. You can vacate titles because of cheating and have anyone respect your run. Also we all know that USC has to get up for maybe 2 games a year. While Bama plays numerous teams that are top 20 ALLTIME program.
