maybe the best episode of the season no lie

Not maybe. It was. I didn't expect all of that from a random episode. I was getting a little bored with the present storyline but they hit the gas tonight.

Also warmed me up to both Merylns. Gave them a little character depth.

Yeah, nice to see a little more development on them. Also pretty cool to see Alex Kingston show up as Laurel's mom at the end.

Between her and Barrowman there is all kinds of Dr Who up in this show.

Yeah, plus her mom is Dinah Lance so the reference made more sense with her appearance.

Malcolm Merlyn trained in Nanda Parbat? That comment made me interested in seeing some Merlyn flashbacks as well.

I don't know the comic so forgive any stuid questions, but I'm guessing Malcolm Merlyn is the other archer guy that fought Oliver earlier in the season?

Yeah Psych. You don't remember when he dramatically took off his hood and mask at the end of that episode?

Malcolm Merlyn

also know as "Merlyn" .. he's a member of the League of Assassins.. whom btw, are in a dark way, not "bad guys".. more grey most of the time. (in comic books, being grey still makes you a bad guy unless your name is Batman.. but even batman refuses to kill) He's also Oliver's teacher in some versions of the Green Arrow universe.

in most, he's at least the person Oliver looked up to, in order to become the Green Arrow

Good info. Feel free to share any other background info on the characters while trying to not get too far into spoiler territory. Maybe someday I will be able to tell them apart.

So Malcolm Merlyn shares the same philosophy on life and criminality as Ra's Al Ghul?

It's looking like the show character is heading that way. I hope so actually. The comic character didn't have quite that much depth.

Spoiler warning for this week(just in case)

For the record, what caught me the most by surprise this week was Tommy finding out that Ollie is Arrow. I liked it but I'm definitely clueless where the writers are headed with this.

Malcolm knows the Vigilante saved his life(Ollie not knowing he was the Black Archer), Tommy knows Ollie is the Vigilante and is upset with him now, Tommy is close to Malcom again, Malcolm was about to reveal his secret to Tommy(prob won't now I guess), Malcolm trained at Nanda Parbat(what is his mission?), Moira failed in the assassination attempt and is tasked to find the culprit by Malcolm, Laurel's mom shows up saying Sarah is alive.

Were the writers snorting aderall when writing this episode or what?

Different show, there will never be another oj until there is another show as good as fringe... arrow is good, but a different type of show, no need for an oj of the worlds in arrow.

Just saw the latest episode. SO good. Keep trying to push this show on my friends but no one believes me.

Comic book buffs:
Is Merlyn Tommy or Malcolm in the comics? Or both?

Wondering if Tommy will become Merlyn as this show moves along..

I guess he's got to be Malcolm since, at this point, there's no time in the present storyline to train Tommy properly.

Would be a great archnemisis for Ollie if it was Tommy though.

Oh I agree that Tommy is set up beautifully to hate Ollie with a passion, especially when he eventually steals Laurel away. I'm just saying, how is he going to become a master archer overnight?
