re: The great Exxon Christmas eve explosion of 89

I was shopping with my mom at Cortana mall. The metal pull down's that close off the entrance to each store all rattled so loud. I'll never forget that day. Later that night I drove by there and you could feel the heat from the interstate.

1712 Beachgrove Dr. Tara subdivision in BR! Felt it! My father in law who was close to several local politicians got calls that his business in the area was clear!

Living off Essen lane. Two pictures knocked off the wall, breaking the glass. Attic fold up stairs kicked down and slammed back shut.

LSU lakes were frozen over. Got cool pics standing on the ice with the smoke in the background.

I was at my grnma's house off of beech street in NBR. That thing shook the house like it blew the house off the pylons. We were scared as shite.

My grandma was on the commode and we asked her if she farted.

That was funny Jake.

I was in Baker. Didn't shake as bad as when the tank in the Maryland tank farm blew. That was crazy.

Little over 2 miles away, at my house. We knew it was Exxon the moment it happened. Thing about living in the shadows of the Refinery...

I remember that was the Coker fire. The lady was high up in the unit on a platform and was basically roasted alive from what I heard - if that was the incident I am recalling.

I think about that every time I find myself up in a unit at any of the plants. Not a pleasant thought.
