By far the most detailed explanation we've gotten from the league thus far.

So, that's it? That is the evidence. We have had it all along and the NFL doesn't have anymore evidence than what they have shown.

It is all "he said, he said" and Cerullo, a disgruntled fired employee is the one who got the ball rolling. Then, Williams testified under duress.

I am interested that the claim is that Smith and Fujita confirmed that money was being put up for "cart offs" when they have denied that publicly. A "cart off" would be a severe injury, not a bell-ringing for a play or two. Words do mean something. If that happened, then Goodell is right.

But, at this point, I don't believe anything he says. However, unless Smith and Fujita deny this, it becomes believable. At this point, we would have to think that Goodell is forcing everyone to cooperate with his side of the story except for Vilma.

Disgusting

''In my recent meetings with the players and their counsel, the players addressed the allegations and had an opportunity to tell their side of the story,'' Goodell wrote. ''In those meetings, the players confirmed many of the key facts disclosed in our investigation, most particularly that the program offered cash rewards for 'cart-offs,' that players were encouraged to 'crank up the John Deere tractor' and have their opponents carted off the field, and that rewards were offered and paid for plays that resulted in opposing players having to leave the field of play.''

This all boils down to the Saints not stopping the "bounty" program when the league told them to; that's it.

Have you followed this story at all, or has ESPN been your only news source?

If all that it boils down to is us not stopping when the league told us to stop in 2009 then why did fujita get suspended.

And nobody said the Saints are completely innocent, everyone has agreed there was a pay for performance system in place, but that's not under goodell's jurisdiction.
