Say it's the day after the SEC Championship and Pac 12 Championships. Alabama and Oregon are 13-0 and conference champions. Alabama was ranked #1 in the BCS standings of the previous week and Oregon was ranked #2. However...Notre Dame has now also finished their regular season with a 12-0 record and a #3 ranking. There are no other undefeated teams in college football, just these three.

Oregon would be ranked 3 though. Notre Dame will be 1 or 2 with Bama.

I think it would be 1. Alabama 2. Notre Dame 3. Oregon... based on their strength of schedules. Oregon had a terrible non-conference schedule (although not really their fault due to team(s)? backing out). Alabama obviously has a tough schedule and so does Notre Dame.

ND would have beat Oregon's two toughest opponents and more.

If Notre Dame goes unbeaten they would've beaten these bowl teams
Navy (a)
Michigan
Michigan St. (a)
Miami (a)
BYU
Stanford
OU (a)
USC (a)

They deserve to be ranked 1 IMO.

Which can possibly be 3 of the BCS Conference Champions

ND SoS is legit.

Ducks have already proven themselves as a great NCG team, giving AU all they could handle a couple years ago. So Bama-Ducks. ND's appeal, though strong won't let them make the jump, and I think they drop a game between now and then anyway.

Plus selfishly, I love contrasting style games.

There is literally no shot that it wouldn't be Bama vs Notre Dame...that is a match made in television ratings heaven.

God I can't wait for the plus one. This shouldn't even be an issue.

Objectively you can not say ND doesn't deserve the shot if run table. They'll deserve it more than other two.
