O's vs Yanks 2-3 Ibanez 2 home runs. Game tying and the winner

Game 3 is tomorrow at 6:37 Central time
Miguel Gonzales (9-4 3.25) vs Hiroki Kuroda (16-11 3.32)
Gonzales vs NYY this season
13.2 innings 10 hits 4 runs 4 earned runs 3 home runs 1 walk 17 strike outs 2 wins 0 losses
Kuroda vs Bal this season
15.1 innings 8 hits 5 runs 5 earned runs 2 home runs 1 walk 7 strike outs 1 win 1 loss
Both of Kuroda's and Gonzales starts came in Yankee stadium.
This is going to be another good starting pitching match up with both pitchers working late into the game.

Yankees like to swing and miss.... surprised me only 1 walk, seems Yankees teams of the past were more patient.
Yankees had 7 players with over 80 strikeouts this season with Granderson at 195. Only 2 had 75 or more walks. Yankees had 0 players who see regular time have more walks than strikeouts. They are a boom or bust team.

This is one place we miss Gardner. Either last season or the one before he averaged like 4.6 pitches per AB, which led the bigs. Next closest was 4.2 or something.
That and on the bases.
And in the OF.
And in the hustle department.

Third in MLB in walks and had the most of any AL team. 21st in MLB in strikeouts. They are still pretty patient.

I miss Gardner, he would have had 50 steals this year with a .300+ average and probably close to a .400 OBP

A-Rod, Teixeira, and Granderson are all such terrible hitters. Seems like none of them have approaches when they get to the plate. Maybe Tex a little. No confidence in any of them, especially on the road.

That's just silly. You wanna trade them straight up for Robert Andino, Lew Ford, and Jim Thome? Because that's what terrible hitting looks like (Thome used to be awesome).
I do think the Yankees look old. The Tigers must be thinking they have a World Series bid close to in hand right about now. Finish off the A's and then get either a decrepid Yankees team or a not very talented O's team. The Tigers must be a huge favorite right now.

I would root for the Tigers in WS with Verlander and Fielder getting first ring would be awesome.... I use to love watching fat Fielder in the Rock and Jock Softball games on MTV back in the day, think they let him play 1 year and another he was there watching his dad

A-Rod swings and misses more than anyone I've ever seen. He's a pure mistake hitter. Now it's the playoffs, and teams have better pitchers across the board.
He should be hitting 5th.
Teixeira is pretty patient, but it seems like for the most part it's extra-base hit or bust with that uppercut swing. And that's not necessarily a bad thing. Plenty of power hitters are like that. Problem is that he hasn't been doing much power hitting lately. Maybe it's the injury, I don't know. He had 2 hits last night, but then he's a liability on the base paths because of the injury.
And then Granderson. The fact that he hit 43 homers but is hitting 8th should tell you all you need to know.
All of their approaches are terrible. How the frick was A-Rod not taking until he got a strike in the 9th last night? You have to do anything you can to make sure Cano gets an at bat. Johnson wasn't going to groove anything to him unless it was 2-0 or 3-1.
All that being said, I think the Yankees can beat the Tigers in a 7-game series, where you'll see Verlander starting twice in a 7-game series with the first game at home, instead of seeing him twice in a 5-game series with the first game on the road; which is what they were looking at if they didn't finish with the best record.

We are throwing our 'arguably' best pitcher we have going the past few months in gonzo. As long as A-Rod and Tex keep floundering I like our chances tonight and tomorrow versus Hughes. I would surely not like to see us go up against CC again. With the way our pen is pitching we just need a lead into the 6th.

Yankees have better names and collection of individuals but I honestly think O's are a better "team". Of course no one would trade Yankees roster for O's because of Arod, Jeter, Granderson, CC, Cano, and Tex.
I like the Yankees chances tonight but I think we see a 2-1 or 3-2 ball game. Hopefully Yankees rediscover that stroke they had in late innings of game 1.

The Orioles haven't hit a home run in this series, which is kinda surprising for a team so dependent on the long ball. I think we will see the first Oriole long ball of the series tonight.
