Next season, we are scheduled to return:

1. JOB
2. Courtney
3. Coleman
4. Hammink
5. Morgan
6. Stringer
7. Collins
8. Hickey

We have commitments from:
9. Mickey
10. Quarternman
11. Deng
12. Odoh
13. Johns

We know the staff is hard after Martin and apparently Frazier. That tells me two guys scheduled to return won't, if we get those two (maybe JOB goes pro and/or Courtney/Stringer transfer). Or, maybe someone goes off scholarship for a year that can afford to pay their way (not counting on this).

Odoh will be here in December and use this season as a redshirt season.

That's interesting. I read the quotes as he wasn't going back to high school, or that he was going to practice, but not play with high school. Or he may be circumvented HS all together and working straight with LSU.

With that offer list maybe the kid is on scholarship ... The numbers don't add up then assuming we're holding a spot for Martin ... Then there's still Frazier and Trocha out there?

I don't think we're pursuing Trocha from what I've read.

It looks as if we have 11 now. We lose 4 probably 5 if you count O'Bryant. The limit is 13 I believe. So we should have 6 schollies to offer and we have 5 commited as of now.

I feel like Coach Jones should come out and tell us everything about this. I mean, if he is able to play this current year, it is in the interest of this years ticket holders to know if he is gonna be here.

I am really interested to Johns ability, his process of joining the team, and everything else about him.

Check out the link below. Johns is on the roster of the Question team in the 2012 Reebok Breakout All Stars Game held on July 13. The rosters for both teams are loaded with great HS players such as the Harrison brothers who just committed to Kentucky, Keith Frazier, Tony Trocha, etc. I did not watch the whole game, but Johns (#50 blue team) did play midway the 1st Q for quite a while. He looks a little raw, but capable of becoming a really good player.

The link is to the 1Q of the game. The other three quarters are also available once you get to this one:

Isn't he just about to have an event? The 'Tip-Off' dinner or something like that?

Why should a coach have to come out and say what's going on with his scholly numbers?

ETA: he's a 3 start on two sites and the 29th best center on scout, doubt he's coming as a walk-on.

LSU men's basketball coach Johnny Jones will host his first of a monthly series of basketball luncheons for the general public beginning Tuesday at the L'Auberge Resort off Nicholson Drive south of the LSU campus.

The luncheon will be held at the Bon Temps Buffet located on the main floor of the L'Auberge. The all-you-can-eat buffet charge is $13.95 per person.

The luncheon is open to the public and the program, featuring Head Coach Johnny Jones, will begin at noon.

At the first luncheon, Jones will discuss the state of the Tiger program entering the start of practice later that week and preview the "Pass A Good Time" event with the men's and women's basketball teams set for Oct. 11 at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center. LSU opens its 2012-13 regular season on Friday, Nov. 9 at 7 p.m. in the Maravich Center against UC Santa Barbara after a Nov. 5 exhibition game against Arkansas-Monticello.

Future luncheons will also feature guest speakers and a question and answer session with the audiences. The luncheons will conclude by 12:45 p.m.

The other scheduled dates for the month luncheons are: November 14, December 4, January 15, February 5 and March 7

I am hoping he comes out with some information this afternoon at this.

I never said he should have to, but as a very interested season ticket holder I'd like to know about THIS SEASONs team. I think it would be in his best interest to spark some more excitement saying he has picked up a 6'11" guy for a team most of Baton Rouge are writing off because they lack post presence.

I don't think he was referring to Johnny explaining his plan for next year. He was saying LSU should have a press release about the Johns signing if he will be eligible to play this season (spring semester).

The school/coach can't comment until the player signs. Early signing is in November.

He won't be signing a NLI, just enrolling for spring semester and filling scolarship papers. But I guess right now he is still a kid who is out there in flux, so you're probably right.
