We have a QB that's started 2 SEC games. Our offensive line is patchwork at best. Wide receivers can't catch the ball consistently. We're not taking care of the football.

What type of offensive scheme would work under these conditions?

If we can work on execution and develop guys better we wouldn't have to although some misdirection needs to be used.

Misdirection/Play-action with a coordinator/HC that actually knows how to utilize such an offense.

Apparently $4 million per year only buys aptitude in one offensive scheme.

Playing a front seven loaded with future first round draft picks? "frick it," says Miles/Stud "Toss dive left."

It's not the scheme, just don't be afraid to throw the ball across the middle. Throw in more play action and let Mett audible out when there are 8+ guys in the box

Spread it out with 4 WRs and a RB in the backfield. When your offense is spread out so much, it opens up natural running lanes for the RBs and natural lanes for WRs to get open. When everyone is in tight, like we usually are, the D has more people in tight, therefore we rely on a WR to beat his DB 1v1 , and that rarely happens. It also causes our OL to block more people in a smaller area, which usually ends up with clogged up holes and havoc.

When the offense is spread out, you run basic slants, hitches, smash routes, rail patters, etc. Throw to the side where you have the personnel advantage or the numbers game(2 DBs with a safety over the top on 3 WRs). And you can still run the ball effectively when its spread out. 1 MLB with 4 DL is in front of you. Thats it. Thats way better than running it with 9 in the box.

Spread out the offense causes the defense to spread out, and if they dont spread it out defensively just say hut and toss it to the WR that doesnt have anybody lined up in front of him and let him do his thing.

Fundamentally, I like what they're doing. By the number of plays called they're pretty balanced this year.

It's variety in the passing game that's missing..and execution in all phases.

And what if we can't catch those quick passes? Or when we do, while the WR is doing his thing, he fumbles? How is that any more effective?

Then it wont work, obviously. I was just giving my input and actually recommended a new scheme. It doesnt matter what you run if the players dont make the plays. But, this would help open up our running game because all opposing teams are doing is putting 9 in the box with 1v1 on the WRs.

Who starts a thread and asks for peoples opinion on a new scheme, then when they give it, you act like a dbag and tell them how wrong they are. Sorry for giving my input to your shitty thread.

run more than one play per formation! If you only run certain plays out of certain looks, its pretty dam easy to figure out! Also, dont expect a QB to learn how to go through progressions if there is only one receiver on a route, and he is covered by half of the defense because they read the formation!
