you do realize if you give up a play and still tackle the guy, that's a plus by your evaluation methods?

Jenkins should be leading the league in tackles with how many he misses.

I will give him and Harper credit for seeming to always be in the picture on long plays (something T. Jones and Josh Bullocks could never do) but Jenkins takes terrible angles and refuses to wrap up.

Everyone is talking about how bad of a tackler he is and how many missed tackles he has, but he's one of the league leaders in tackling.

Just so y'all know...Harper and Jenkins are ranked 19th and 22th in total tackles so far, which is 2nd and 3rd among among DBs in the league.

if you are going to post stats please post all relevant ones not just the one stat that makes them look good. plus after they give a lot of space on a receiver they generally tackle but they still gave up the completion (inflated stat)

lol ok. I guess since y'all were discussing the tackling techniques then tackling stats aren't appropriate..

oh, ok; well I dont think he is a bad tackler. I think that is one of his more positive assets actually. Especially since everything else I thought he had that was an asset, is turning out to be liabilities.

I'm not writing him off until after the season is complete though. There's still time left to put together a solid season.

I just think that stat is close to meaningless so I jumped into this thread.

Number of baseball hits are useless unless you tell me the total at bats.

Well personally I think it shows that even though they're in a new system (yes they're still working on a system with a new def co.) they're still doing a pretty damn good job.

We're 3rd to last in pass and rush D in yards per attempt.

If you think tackling and football defense is just hit or miss type stuff then I don't know what to do for you. But valiant effort in trying to twist facts.

Team defense. I'm not saying our safeties are playing flawless by any stretch of the imagination...but the young cbs are getting burned all the time. Jenkins and Harper can't cover for everyone's mistakes. Especially when dealing with pass defense, it's a team effort, except maybe back shoulder stuff? You could make an argument for that but even Revis gets burned on those from time to time.

I think his point is, unless you can provide how many tackle attempts Malcolm had then his number of tackles is useless.

I personally think tackles are a pretty useless stat for gauging defensive ability unless you put up a monster number like over 200. You can see good defensive players. Shanle has led the team or been close every year since he's been here. Does that make him a good player?

I will say this...Malcolm Jenkins should be one of the leaders of our defense given the responsibilities he has this year, and he's certainly come up short in that aspect.

Quick making excuses. Malcom should be the type of player and veteran by now that is an impact player and helps the rest of the D. But he's not cause he sucks and is just another added liability out there.

That was an awful game for Malcolm. And what makes it worse is he gets in people's faces after he gets burnt.
