The call is questionable to two reasons. The rule says immediate. The call was not made until the shortstop seemed to be called off by the left fielder and the ball dropped between them. If it is truly "ordinary effort", it should be easy for an umpire to determine infield fly, not such a last minute decision.
The second reason is based on your quote:
quote:

The rule is to protect the batting team FYI. To keep them from dropping it on purpose to get an easy double play
In the spirit of the rule would this have created an easy double play for St. Louis and clearly the answer is no because the base runners were able to advance.
I am not saying it was wrong, just questionable.

Bump. Awful call.

Defending this is like saying Jennings and Tate had simultaneous possession in the end zone last MNF.

Second, the rule states that "when it seems apparent that a batted ball will be an Infield Fly, the umpire shall immediately declare Infield Fly for the benefit of the runners." In this case, Holbrook didn't signal for the infield fly rule until the ball was more than half-way through its descent

I don't get it, he called it when it seemed apparent that just like the rule states, so what's the issue?

Kozma's was not an ordinary effort
entirely debatable

Damn, you are dumb.

This pop up was 50 fricking feet farther than any other infield fly rule that has been called. 50 feet.

If the infielder could catch the ball with ordinary effort then why didn't he catch it? That's right because it was closer to the left fielder.

At what point was it apparent he was going to catch the ball? When he put his arms up when the ball was 10 yards behind him? Forget about the fact he was clearly struggling to find the ball and get in position to catch it (which is why he didn't).

I guess all infielders should just start putting their hands up when a ball is in the air and the ump can go ahead and call the runner out.

Seriously, you are a moron.

i'm dumb because I know the rule and you don't?

The location of the ball is irrelevant. Somehow the dumb person knows that and you don't.

When you have no defense of the actual rule, just call people names and it seems like you know what you're talking about

The rule isn't on your side, but you don't know the rule OBVIOUSLY judging by the contents of your post.

That's irrelevant. Just because he could catch it with ordinary effort doesn't mean another player couldn't do the same.

You may know the definition of a rule but you, and the retard LF ump, are the only tards in America without the common sense to apply it.
