Both back-end coaches (Mac and Miles) came in after a dominant era (Paul D/Saban) only to change the game for LSU at an absurdly unexpected level.

Does history repeat itself? Of course.

You're witnessing greatness in CLM.

I'm serious.

Are you?

Chilly Mac ( yes on purpose) ended up 6-5 and fired.

Paul Dietzel at the end of the 1957 season was about to be fired, Jimmy Taylor TD vs Tulane saved his job and the rest is history.

Saban was a better coach than Paul, including gameday. Paul had a habit of leaving the game plan on gameday in the locker room.

Charles MaClendon was a very good coach.

Les Miles is closer to a Bo of Michigan than anything we have every had and very underrated by fans.

People made this comparison a lot after the 2009 season saying Les/Cholly would never again beat Saban/Bear

Yes Les has beat Saban more than Mac could beat Bear (2 times).

Cholly Mac sucked and it reflects poorly on LSU fans that they revere him so much. It shows how they were content with mediocrity.

/Chollly Mac lost support of the fans because they were not satisfied with winning 9 games and losing to Alabama. His recruiting suffered and the program went down. Both Paul Brown and Don Shula said the Mac was the best coach to do what he did with the poor material he had to work with.

I think both of them knew more about football than most of the critics of Charlie Mac.

I think that the 1969 team was the best ever, but what do I know!

I think this comment shows how good we have it now and how spoiled we have become.

That was a great team - only a loss to Archie Who and a decision by Notre Dame prevented this team from being recognized as one of the best of all times.

Mac is revered for what he did for this program at a time when Alabama was the SEC. Like the OU-Nebraska domination of the Big 8, but by just one team. Yeah - we couldn't get over he hump. But it was a helluva hump.

He was a very good coach and was a Tiger to his core. Revise history and tell me who'd have done better. Hired gun? Ask Florida fans how they feel about Urbs. Hell - ask really old Tiger fans how they felt about Pepsodent Paul bailing on LSU for a better program.

Mac is as much a part of LSU as Saban, Miles, and the next guy to come along and win a national championship, or two. It reflects poorly on those of our fan base who don't get this.
