Dude can't sing and makes awful music. Not sure how anybody can dig the music he makes. Feel free to dispute my claim.

That he makes "awful music" is a matter of taste, but I don't see how you can say he can't sing. He has a very expressive voice that can communicate a wide variety of emotion.

he was part of punk/new wave. you didn't have to be a good singer. that was the whole punk mantra.

I love Elvis....he puts on a hell of a show! Got to see him open for The Police here in Houston couple years ago.

If you haven't heard this album, you need to give it a try..Amazing!

I was never a big fan. But I saw country/bluegrass show last year and it was incredible.

I like some of his stuff but I'm not an uber fan. But the guy can sing.....not an American idol voice....which I think is very vanilla. But his phrasing is on par with Dylan.

Back in the 80's he was one of the coolest, most respected and most prolific composers/performers.

Sure he's not a great singer, but neither is Springsteen, Bono, or many other rock singers. It's the style of what they do that carries them. You don't have to like it, but I love some of his stuff.

I'm not a fan at all but I don't really like any of the whole punk/new wave thing. So I guess my stance on him makes sense

He became dead to me the day he married Diana Krall.

I admit that I bought and really enjoyed "Armed Forces" when it came out in, what, 1979 or so? Tried a few more albums after that and lost interest. He is quirky, but I don't get his mass appeal or staying power.

He's hit or miss for me, he's done a lot that I like and also a lot that doesn't connect at all. There are some gems among the songs I like, though. One that hasn't been mentioned:

Yea. I mean I don't like EC, and I mean not even a little bit. Seriously there is not a single song by him that I can tolerate for more than minute or so, but to say he sucks or makes "awful music" is just ignorant. He posseses immense talent and is influential on a huge level. No one can deny that. I respect what the man accomplished. I just never want to hear his music.
