I went two years ago and found the trip enjoyable...

like the other away games, if you draw attention to yourself by bieng an obnoxious or get sloppy drunk, trouble will quickly find you...but if you are civilized and steer clear of obvoious groups of assholes, you won't have any problems at all...I walked around with a cup of beer all day and didn't get one single bit of flack from the cops....

also, like anywhere else, if you leave your vehicle decorated, expect to come out and find it fricked up....

Florida's NASCAR crowd = LSU's Roughneck Crowd

Behave yourself and avoid instigations in places should not be, and you'll be fine.

Go to the wrong areas or mouth off, and you'll see the bad side, just like visitors to LSU games.

I've been to every SEC school except Ole Miss, and Florida is by far the worse place I've been. . Of course it depends on who you run into, but it seems like everyone I ran into at Florida was a douche. Police are terrible to opposing fans. Told myself I would never go back. Hope you have a good trip, LSU dominates, and you rub it in their face.

I went in 2000/1? and had a blast. We won and didn't have any problems. You'll encounter your fair share of rude fans though.

Those are the same year that I went. 98 was actually pretty close. I think we just lost by 10. Anyway, both trips were miserable, and I will NEVER go back there. Hate that fanbase.

One of the worst parts was that the LSU fans were broken up into very small pockets around the stadium. They aren't the only ones that do this, but what made it worse is that several pockets bordered on UF student sections, which is ridiculous. Tiger Stadium isn't exactly known for being a cordial place for visitors, but at least the athletic dept is smart enough to put our students on the opposite side of the stadium from the visitors. Those two groups should not be around each other.

In 98, I had some drunk dickhead UF student in my ear the ENTIRE 1st quarter, even though they weren't pounding us. He was screaming at us at the top of his lungs. I wasn't messing with him or provoking him. I was just hoping he would run out of steam and shut up so I could watch the game. I knew the stadium people wouldn't do anything but take his side, so there wasn't much I could do about it.

Well then he tried to say something to my wife. She had already had enough of him herself, so before I could get a word out, she started yelling at him at the top of her lungs and threatened to beat the shite out of him if he said another word to her. All the LSU fans behind us started ragging him, and then his UF buddies joined in on him. He thrned around and didn't say another word. He even apologized to my wife later, after he sobered up a bit. My wife still gets props for this one, to this day.

I've been going to SEC road games since the early 70's & have found fans to be fans anywhere; most good, some really bad. The latter you can usually spot ahead of time & avoid if you keep your eyes/ears peeled. But the cops & stadium marshalls are the worst in the league, with no one else a close second. Forget that "be polite & you'll be ok" crap. They look to incite trouble, regardless of your age or level of sobriety. I've seen 2 cops follow a group of middle aged LSU fans around for several blocks, just waiting to jump their bones, and this group was well aware of the danger & was acting normal. They still got hassled. Find a good bar, stay & watch the games on tv & then head straight to your seat. Repeat same after the game: get out of Dodge with head/eyes down & walking fast. Opposite end of the spectrum are AU fans. Good clean fun tailgating, win or lose, minus the typical dumb jerks found everywhere.

You have to dish it out to them before they get the chance to do the same to you.

I have never talked more shite in my life than I did after we won in 2010. And I was by myself with no backup.

They didn't say shite

for the record, I would not recommend this strategy...

I was at the game in Florida in 98, and I actually witnessed some of the Florida fans spit on an older couple, LSU Alumni, probably in there 70's. Florida won that year and they still acted like trash. It wasn't long before that guy and his friends had their asses handed to them by a mob of LSU fans.

Only fight I ever got into before ,during or after a game was versus a Florida fan.

Defense rests it's case.

Yep. They're a different kind of jerks (trying to be nice here). They know the campus/Gainesville PD have their back (who single out and harass opposing fans in their own right), so they do what they want and get away with it.

I'll pound my nuts flat with a wooden mallet before I go back there.

probably my favorite road trip outside of Athens. Vast majority of bama fans are pretty cool and will drink toe to toe with you.
